Apple has won the trademark for the now utterly ubiquitous phrase, “There’s an app for that”.
Apple filed for the trademark in December 2009, the phrase was first used on January 26, 2009, the trademark request claimed.
Mashable explains the patent — filed in the Advertising, Business and Retail Services, Computer and Software Services and Scientific Services categories — describes itself as:
“..retail store services featuring computer software provided via the Internet and other computer and electronic communication networks; retail store services featuring computer software for use on handheld mobile digital electronic devices and other consumer electronics.”
We’re interested to see how this will be applied, conceivably it will become a weapon in the battle of the App Stores, maybe.
