We’re liking the look of Tivo’s new app for iPad. It is so much more than a remote, it lets you connect with all the information Tivo has — actors info, film guides and more, effectively a link to the Tivo TV interface that doesn’t depend on you interrupting what’s playing on your television.

There’s a virtual button-based remote control and a set of gesture-based controls for navigating your recordings. You can also program recordings while on the go. And use the Facebook integration.

The catch? It only works with Tivo Premiere hardware. Then again, when you can pick-up a slightly older TiVo TCD746320 Premiere DVR for just $93 at Amazon ($200 off), that may not be such a massive problem.

The app will be free.
