Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is planning its first new store in Tokyo since 2005.

Construction is scheduled to be completed by February, the person said, asking not to be identified because they aren’t authorized to speak for Apple.

Tokyo is noted for its high land values. Bloomberg estimating the cost of the land at around $164M with the finished store expected to be worth a staggering $256M …

We noted back in January that Apple is relocating its Tokyo HQ to the Roppongi Hills complex.

Am I the only one who thinks that the picture of this guy is disturbing?

  2. Apple pleaaaaaaaaaase… Could you open the Puerta del Sol Store in Madrid??

  3. No updates on a Singapore store or any more mainland China stores?

Apple should have opened all these stores in this story about 24 months ago….

Still no Apple Store for Ireland yet. Really wish Apple would work on opening one store in each country before adding additional stores to countries and sometimes even cities that already have one or more stores.
Really frustrating not being able to deal with certain problems at a local store and needing to send damaged devices back to Apple.

  5. Saint-Germain-des-Prés (VI)? -> Paris is divided into 20 borough/district, the smaller the number is the more central it is, Saint-Germain des Prés is the 6.

It’s nice to see them continuing to open stores globally. It makes me wonder if they’ve ever closed a location (other than to reopen it nearby)?

I’m still hoping for one on Maui (my home). There are 3 within a couple miles of each other in Honolulu on Oahu, but none here. I’m also hoping for one in Thailand soon (where I visit often). It’s not Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Singapore, but it’s become fairly affluent and cosmopolitan in the last 10 years.
