Apple prominently advertising Beats Music to new iOS device users

Apple has prominently featured its own suite of free apps when iOS users first open the App Store, such as its iLife and iWork apps, for a while. Now that Beats Music and Beats Electronics are officially part of the family, the Beats Music app is now appearing on this ‘Apple Apps’ list as well. Beats Music is currently the last entry in the list, described as a way to ‘listen to music that’s always right for you’.

Tapping ‘Download All’ will install Beats Music alongside Apple’s other apps. Naturally, one way for Apple to significantly increase adoption of the service is to advertise it to every new iOS user.

The view will show up for new iOS devices or by performing a clean restore to a version of iOS 7, on both iPhone and iPad.

What’s interesting about this list is that, before the addition of Beats, every app advertised was effectively free, if you ignore GarageBand’s In-App Purchase. Beats Music, of course, requires a monthly subscription to use, so this is a substantial marketing shift. The change could indicate that Apple is planning a bigger marketing push for Beats in the run up to the holidays, to complement its new hardware.

Also, Beats Music does not currently show up for new iOS 8 installations in this view, although we would expect this to change by the time iOS 8 is released to the public.

So far, Apple does not list Beats Music in the ‘Apps Made By Apple‘ subcategory on the App Store homepage.

Thanks Abrar!

While I’m not too surprised, it’s interesting how quickly they started integrating Beats into the fold. It seemed like they would keep it separate (though that would counter their typical behavior) for a bit.

Thats nice… now when are they going to get rid of their web based Flash player? I’m not paying that kind of money a month and only have an iOS version to use.

Hi, I think you must have a look at this new app/feature of iOS- The Quiet Hours for Notification.

This new feature will automatically suppress notifications from smart
phone or tablet depending upon the situation you are in. For example,
the phone will automatically suppress any notification of call or email
or light alert whenever you will be attending a meeting or studying or
    driving a car.

You can read more about it here- greybmusings.wordpress.com/2014/08/08/apple-now-iphone-will-take-care-of-you/

Since iTunes Radio still isn’t available in most European countries, I’m not holding my breath for Beats Music.
