While iOS 8.1 isn’t officially going to be released to the public until Monday, several reports across the internet are saying that Apple’s Photos app within the web-based iCloud website has now gone live for those using the iOS 8.1 beta. The interface looks a lot like that of the Photos app on iOS, letting you view your library as organized by either Moments or Albums.
If you’re currently running the iOS 8.1 beta on your device, you can head over to https://beta.icloud.com/#photos to view your collection. From there, as you can see below, the site will allow you to select photos and download them to your computer. Otherwise, you’ll be presented with a screen asking you to update your device to 8.1. Of course, you won’t be able to do that until Monday, October 20th, so if you’re not a developer, just hold tight.
Thanks Amit Kalra for the photos!

To my recollection, iOS 8.1 is going live on Monday (October 20th) not tomorrow (October 19th)
My mistake. In my head it was Sunday today.
You can head over to…..head over to where?
I’m looking forward to the new Photos app and the Cloud portion of it, but considering how messed up iCloud is in general I have limited faith that they will end up doing it right.
iCloud on the Web is a pain in the arse and I rarely use it for that reason.
Its probably the single best set of web apps and one of the best web pages in the general across the entire web.
The only problem with it is that it is INDEED a web page. So, in general, it sucks compared to any native app of any kind.
A service that you can access across all platforms where the interface and it’s products are incredibly simple because of its familiarity with iOS that you don’t need a manual to use it. Pain in the arse? You literally log in and you have access to some great web APPS and crutial location services. The Photos APP will literally just expand the experience.
So…I’m still confused how “messed” up the service is and why any of what you just said has any weight or merit on the basis that you “rarely” use it.
I have had a great experience with iCloud on the web TBQH. It really works.
Ever tried OneDrive? Truly cross-platform (iCloud clearly isn’t), much more powerful web apps, much cheaper storage. I appreciate some Apple users will not use it out of principle because it is a Microsoft product, but if you are open minded, give it a try.
I’m an Apple user, but I love OneDrive. For me it’s the little things that iCloud Drive is missing, like not having the ability to generate thumbnails for images, that is a bit disappointing. Apple makes great hardware and desktop software, but their web applications still need some work.
but its fanatistic
The 8.0.2 release gave everyone the option of turning iCloud Photo Library. Just have to go to Photos & Camera Serrings and flip it on.
No, it absolutely did not.
Yes, you can actually select that, but it’s the beta, sure to disappear as such with 8.1.
Will use it the day we can exclude specific photos from it.
Have you been takin photos of your wonky again?!?!?!
Who calls it a wonky?
Yes I did.
I want Photos.app for OS X… Now!
pleeeease… :(
I’ve turned on iCloud photo library on iOS 8.1 beta 2 and the website keeps saying that its preparing my library… My phone says its done updating everything.
So is this likely to remain on beta.icloud.com and not join the regular iCloud.com? Lame.
I’m going to assume that it will be labeled BETA, just like iWork is presented on the regular iCloud site.
Where’s upload botton
Your at Apple, there will be no upload button. At the moment you activate it, it’s uploaded automaticly. Welcome to modern world ;o))
so how much space do we get for photos exactly?
Uses your iCloud storage does it not?
it certainly does, 5GB free, but the plans are much more affordable :DD
i don’t have 8.1 beta on any of my devices but i dol have the my photos on beta.icloud.com
maybe it’s because i’ve had the betas of iOS 8 before… i don’t know :-??
Thats indeed why. I beta tested iOS 8 too, and I have had iCloud photo library alive and kicking all the way, except it’s now labeled Beta. Even on iOS 8 GM. My library is up and running just fine on beta.icloud.com.
Its working with 8.0.2. I have yosemite since dp1 and 8.0 since beta 3 and i have beta.icloud.com working with photos. Its very fast
I currently use Dropbox to back up all of the photos from my iPhone and was hoping that with the new photo beta I could switch to icloud. So I turned it on, it uploaded my photos (I was able to view them online), but when I delete them from my device it deletes them from icloud. Is this how its supposed to work? I was under the impression that it would keep them online (like dropbox). Am I missing something? I don’t want to keep every photo on my phone, that’s why I upload it to the cloud.
