Apple premieres another new iPhone ad, this time focusing on iOS 8’s voice message feature

Following the release of two new iPhone ads earlier this week, Apple has put out yet another commercial for the iPhone 6. Like the others, “Voice Text” features Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon and pop star Justin Timberlake discussing the newest features on Apple’s smartphone.

In this ad, Fallon and Timberlake demonstrate the many uses for the new voice messaging feature included in iOS 8, such as including sarcasm or difficult-to-spell words in a reply. You can check out the full ad below:

Anybody know the size of the voice file compared to a text message?

I don’t, but there was an article when Siri launched it was only sending out ≈ 58Kbyte after popping her a question. You could make note of your current usage, send out a gazillion VM and divide the usage increase by the number of VM’s.

    • Since the top selling models of iPhone 6’s are the 64GB variety and the fact that voice memos automatically expire after 2 minutes I can’t see why file size would be an issue.

I’d like to believe it’s no larger than a standard voice mail in the Phone app.

Data usage over cellular would be one reason why it might matter. Unfortunately I don’t know how big the files are.

Really loving this ad campaign. Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon are just so great together.

  4. Apple should consider another Christmas-style ad where two kids use this feature — along with the quick photo capture button on the opposite side — as a new age walkie-talkie.

They could be ducking behind couches and hugged up against walls, stealth-style, to locate their hidden Christmas presents around the house. Or maybe a scene where the entire family is visiting and they’re talking smack about each family member using code words and saying stuff like “over”, “roger” and “copy that”.

    I know, genius right?

Actually glad to see Apple promote this feature as I doubt the average person even knows they can do this. Hopefully they have a similar ad ready to show the capabilities of the photo icon on the opposite side.

I love that new ebay ad, with Jim Hendrix, and that great close-up of the Galaxy S5.
