New information discovered in the Sony Pictures data dump indicates that the loss of Leonardo DiCaprio for the lead role in the studio’s Steve Jobs biopic may have contributed to the decision to give the movie to Universal Pictures. According to Fusion, the film’s revenue projections dropped by a whopping 25% after Leo dropped out.
Soon reports claimed that Christian Bale would be taking up the role, but that ended up falling through as well. Most recently, actor Michael Fassbender is said to be up for the titular spot, though the movie is now being produced by Universal.
Now the movie has lost another potential cast member. Variety reports today that Natalie Portman has decided to pass on the chance to play Lisa Brennan-Jobs.
If Universal ever manages to finish it, the film will be written by Aaron Sorkin and directed by Danny Boyle. Seth Rogen is currently reported to be up for the role of Steve Wozniak.
The movie will reportedly consist of three acts, each depicting in real-time the thirty minutes before Jobs introduced a game-changing product. While a few Sony scripts were also included in the leak, it doesn’t seem the Jobs biopic’s was among them.

We do need ONE that is good though. I think that’s the idea behind this. Following the amazing story written by Isaacson should have been the first and only movie they should have done.
if i were them, i would create this movie, like how apple designs hardware. keep it secret.
i would find indie actors and keep hollywood away from this movie.

That’s because nobody gives a shit about Steve Jobs. He was an important tech figure, but he’s not the person people want him to be. The guy is dead, you people really need to let it go. Steve Jobs was not god, and he wasn’t that special. Get over it. I hope this movie does not get made because it’s pretty stupid to try and get movie after movie made about a person literally no one cares about other than Apple fanatics.

I’m saying that no one outside the Apple centric care. I agree with the people that think it shouldn’t be made, but there’s post after post after post about how this movie is not seeming to be moving forward.
Apparently you care since you’re here reading and commenting this. In case you don’t know who Steve Jobs is, you should read about him.. if you’re interested in TECH whatsoever. Stop being stupid.
I know who Steve Jobs is, but anyone that doesn’t obsessively read Mac sites don’t care. That’s all I’m saying. There’s no reason to put up post after post about something that seems to be an utter failure. Steve Jobs was a CEO, not someone that needs multiple movies made about him. I’d argue he doesn’t need one movie about him.
I read the book Jobs. I think it should be made becuase it is such an incredible story. Here is a guy who attended one course in junior college and dropped out. He credits LSD trips more than higher education with his vision. He started out with wozniak in his fathers garage. And 30 years later, he proved that closed systems might actually be better approach than open systems, and the company he started and saved, with the help of the people he inspired, came to be worth more in market capitalixpzation than any other company in the world, by a long shot! That is a very good story to tell, and to be told in more than one way (thanks to multiple movies). I cant believe how many people i meet who work in huge international business consulting firms who never read the book. Should be required reading in MBA programs. But its not. If this next movie helps to tell the story to more people, i am all for it being made.
The man wasn’t a moral person and was a huge asshole to those around him. Not really a story that relates to a lot of aspiring CEOs. His time has passed, the story is over. No need to keep trying to make a movie about someone that no one cares about.
From what I’ve read, the Sorkin script takes place back stage at two Apple Events. The roll out of the first iPod, and possibly the roll out of the iPhone (not certain about that). I don’t think Jobs’ backstory will be easily brought forth…unless there are a lot of flashbacks.
