We heard earlier this week that the Orlando Magic would become the first NBA team to offer Apple Pay to fans through a partnership with Chase. Today we get the official announcement from the team confirming an Apple Pay launch at the Amway Center for this Friday, Dec. 19 and some other details regarding special promos:
Beginning on Dec. 19, the Apple Pay option will be available at several Levy concession and Magic retail locations throughout Amway Center. Additional locations will be added throughout the season. In addition, patrons who use their Chase Card with Apple Pay will also have the opportunity to receive special offers and win Magic prizes.
What exactly those special offers and Magic prizes will be, those attending the game will have to use Apple Pay to find out.
Many retailers and other Apple Pay partners have been offering special promotions, coupons and more for using the new service, which might be a push on Apple’s behalf to get more regular iPhone users interested in the payments service. Wells Fargo, for example, offered its customers up to $20 credits for using Apple Pay.
Earlier this week Apple announced that the new Apple Pay service supports 90% of US credit cards by transaction volume while rolling out support for cards from additional bank partners.
