The first in-depth video preview trailer for the upcoming, official Steve Jobs movie has gone live. The movie features Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, Seth Rogen as Steve Wozniak, and it was written by Aaron Sorkin. The film is based off of Jobs’s official biography by Walter Isaacson. Earlier this year, the first teaser trailer for the movie appeared, but it did not provide an extensive look into the story or characters. The movie starts showing in theaters in October 9th.

I don’t think they could have found an actor who looks less like Steve Jobs.
looks has nothing to do with a good movie
Unless it is a movie about a person whose looks, body shape, movements and presentation skills are deeply inside each and every true Apple fan…
Unless it’s about a real person who everyone knows how they look. What if Idris Elba, who is a great and good looking actor played Steve Jobs. Would that be a good movie? So looks does have *something* to do with it to some degree.
I love Fassbender and think he should be the next Bond, but he looks completely wrong here, and the movie doesn’t inspire confidence from that trailer in how it seems to imply Jobs’ role in the creation of all things Apple was merely as a bully salesman. Without him, Woz would have sold nothing, created no company, and everything would have looked like shit, even if it worked really well technically, and been just another cheap commodity beige box machine racing to the bottom. There would be no Apple without Jobs, period.

Wow – why be distraught over a movie about someone you didn’t know? The book is based upon Steve Jobs life – the good, the bad and the ugly. Which is EXACTLY what a biography should be, unless you want to completely rewrite history of course.
Go read Becoming Steve Jobs instead. It is approved by Apple execs and heaps MUCH more praise on Steve Jobs than the Walter Isaacson book.
Aunty Troll:
Because the trailer at least makes the movie seem like it’s going to be total nonsense, not actually accurate to how things were, and just overly dramatized and sensationalized to paint Steve in a much more dramatic light in order to sell tickets. While I understand that is Hollywood’s job, it doesn’t mean I have to like it. :-)
I’ve read Isaacson’s book as well as “Inside Steve Jobs’ Brain”, but have yet to read Becoming Steve Jobs. I’ll check it out, thanks. I’m actually reading through Jony Ive: The Genius Behind Apple’s Greatest Products. As an Apple related industrial designer myself I’m very inspired by him and his story.
Correct. In this type of movie, being accurate and based on facts will matter more. Unfortunately Sorkin has already said that those things aren’t a priority either. Sorkin is a talented guy, to say the least, unfortunately his talent requires that he make things up. It may be an entertaining movie, but it has very little to do with reality.
Demeanor does… And he is off … Way off !
I refuse to watch any Steve Jobs biopic that doesn’t star Christian Bale!
Doesn’t look bad.
Christian Bale would have been so completely perfect for this role. A real shame he turned it down.

Book has been widely slated so what to expect of the film? Bit of a crazy idea.
The book hasn’t been widely slated at all – in fact on Amazon it has 4.5 out of 5 stars out of thousands of reviews. The difference is, APPLE executives didn’t like the book because it can be perceived that it portrays Steve Jobs in less than flattering light, whereas they preferred the other book, Becoming Steve Jobs, which fawns over him more.
What happened to having only three scenes?
I doesn’t seem like a movie about Steve Jobs, However it does seem like a good movie :-) But they should consider maybe calling it something else. How about Man in black
From the trailer, the story has a lot of similarities to Steve Job’s life.
You mean make a movie about Johnny Cash?
That is one movie I won’t watch. The trailer looks to be ‘too overblown’ by me. YMWV.
Steve Jobs would never have done such a poor Michael Fassbender impersonation.
I just hope they give some mention to his drug use (marijuana and acid), which he attributed to a lot of his creative ingenuity
I loved Ashton Kutcher’s Jobs. (That no one saw, because it’s Ashton Kutcher.) Tiny film, but he nailed it. And as much as I love Fassbender, even from the trailer, I can tell Ashton’s portrayal
is better.
He nailed Jobs’ walk and the makeup was Oscar-worthy but the film was vacuous crap. The movie was about how Jobs walked, basically.
Pirates of Silicon Valley is the only Steve Jobs movie worth seeing, period. The Kutcher film was a Steve Jobs ass-licking fest, but at least it put some effort into the looks.
If job was more physically fit and had didn’t have charisma but had an Irish accent.
La Bamba, The Buddy Holly Story, Selma: those are good biopics. This? Doesn’t even look like a Danny Boyle film. Stay away from biopics, Danny. Jobs didn’t have an Irish accent.
Horrible choice of actor… Nothing says Steve about him.. Not the looks , not the demeanor , not the voice and tone… Nada.
What a shame becouse otherwise it seens to be a nice production.
I’ll probably end up seeing it . . . somewhere (on a plane, maybe?).
But the entire time I’ll have to be reassuring/reminding my brain that we’re looking at Steve Jobs.
I’m sure the acting will be top notch, but I’ve been an Apple fan to even catch a glimpse of Steve in that face.
I’m going to spend the entire film waiting for him to kill someone in cold blood and become Magneto.
If this movie wins the box office, maybe they will reboot Apple with Lisa as Steve Jobs.
Right in the trailer, revised history. I will take every moment to criticize this heaping pile of vile.
