Siri beats out Google Now and Cortana in survey, with 81% user satisfaction rating

A survey in which Siri, Google Now and Cortana users were asked to rate their satisfaction with their respective intelligent assistants found that Siri got the highest scores, with 81% of users declaring themselves satisfied compared to 68% for Google Now and just 57% for Cortana.

Survey participants were also asked to try out seven different requests and report on how well their service performed, as well as to note how many times they were asked follow-up questions. Siri had the lowest percentage of incorrect answers, and also asked fewer follow-up questions before it was able to carry out the task or answer the question.

Siri is definitely a feature that polarises users – some (like me) extremely satisfied with it, while I know others who report getting better results with Google Now. Microsoft is allowing a small number of iOS users to try out a beta version of Cortana for the iPhone.

Siri got the highest satisfaction score for setting an appointment, and the lowest for the question ‘When does Kung Fu Panda 3 come out?’.

Siri’s latest trick is speaking Arabic, following the Apple Store openings in the UAE.

From my experience, the average consumer has no idea about most smart phones functions. Whether Android or iOS. I find myself helping most friends with their phones.

The more you use it, the better it gets. I used it sometimes when I first got my car with Siri Eyes Free (I will have had this car for a year on Christmas), at first it barely understood what I wanted it to say and i couldn’t get a full text message completed because I would either stop when I was speaking or I would screw up on what I wanted to say. Now that I have learned how to use it while safely driving, Siri is amazing on everything I use it for. It always understands me now and usually gives me the answer I want. I also find it to be very quick, even if I don’t have good service.
I have android phones, on my Nexus 5 I have never had a good experience with Google Now. On my original Moto X I had a little bit of a better experience, but it still never matched my Siri on my iPhone 5. I wanna say that Google Now did not answer my text messages for me on my Nexus and that Motorola had a built in solution to do that? I haven’t used those phone in a while so I can’t remember exactly.

Siri with the win! This is all due to iOS 9 enhancements, in my opinion.

for me the difference is much bigger, because Siri is a real assistant . Google now and cortana are games for kids, bad copies

I completely agree. Everyone talks about how Google Now is such a better assistant. Google Now is good for getting you useless information at inappropriate times. Siri is great for helping me complete task on my iPhone which is way more useful than knowing what time Wal-mart closes every time I pass it. Or getting updated traffic alerts after I pass the construction area on the highway. Siri is so much better with texting, setting reminders, alarms, notes…etc.

Really? Because I can do all those things you mentioned—setting reminders, alarms, texting—using Google Now on my Android phone, and it works just as well if not better than Siri.

What it really comes down to is brand association. Many people just simply don’t know any better, and just blindly assume that Apple is the best, and since in their mind they are the best, Siri follows suit.

Google Now and Cortana must be really bad. Siri is clueless on my phone.

Clueless about what ? Siri is great and gets better all the time. Let me guess. You got this information from Google Now…lol.

Everything I say/ask of it. I’ve never touched/used and Android/Windows Phone device. Sometimes Apple makes technologies that aren’t any good. No company is perfect. I still like most of their other stuff, except maybe the Pippin.

I haven’t used Siri on iOS9 and unless it has suddenly dramatically improved, it is not even funny, how thoroughly hopeless Siri is compared to Google Now – on Android. And I’m not even talking about all the incredible predictive searches it does. Just the conversation in context, accuracy and speed of response totally blows Siri out of the water.

You don’t have to take my word for it. Just Google You Tube videos for direct comparisons. Out of this list, the only one it didn’t do flawlessly and quickly was “turn wifi setting on” I had to say “turn wifi on”. That worked.

Siri works great for me except when dealing with certain proper names. For instance, it can never understand the name of the city “Aventura”. It’s also rather inflexible when asked to find nearby places of interest, typically defaulting to the nearest location of a business when you explicitly asked for a list of several.
