Apple posts Droid X Antenna Performance video

Apple, (keeping Antenna-gate in the news!) today is hoping to squash their latest competitor, Motorola, with their already popular Droid X by releasing a video showcasing its antenna performance. The video is in identical format to the previous set of Apple’s antenna videos and the Droid X drops from 3 to 0 bars.

Is this a good strategy? Especially when the issue around the iPhone 4 isn’t the “death grip” but that spot on the lower left side that reduces signal upon flesh touching it (that’s why Apple is giving out bumpers?!).  Maybe dropping Antennagate now would be a good strategy?

AT&T slowing down iPhone data speed?

According to AT&T’s new iPhone website, the maximum download speed you can expect to achieve with the device is 1.4mbps.  That is much different than typical 3G phones like the Motorola Q for instance which comes in at a hefty 3.6mbps.  HSDPA data cards can get as high as 7.2 mbps.  What gives?!

It is unlikely to be a webpage error because the 1.4mbps speed is also quoted in the official press release.  While this may still be twice as fast as the previous iPhone, if true, it won’t impress anyone who has used full 3G enabled devices.

Motorola Q?  3.6 Mbps!!!

Changewave report details iPhone challenges in the business market

Changewave’s latest report gives some very interesting numbers for the iPhone in the business market:

  1. Apple is the number two manufacturer in the planned purchases category (ahead of Nokia (this must be US-centric), Palm, Samsung and Motorola) and already has 5% of the business market.
  2. Apple leads (59%) the very satisfied category in their survey by double digit numbers and kills Palm and Windows Mobile devices (10-30% very satisfied).
  3. While RIM currently is the market leader by huge numbers, its recent outages and declining satisfaction ratings are leaving a big question mark in the business landscape – one that Apple is hoping to exploit.
