A large-scale survey from 451 Research that tracks North American consumer purchase intentions shows that the percentage of those likely to buy the iPhone 6 is markedly higher than was the case for both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s. In all three cases, the survey tracked intentions prior to any official announcement by Apple, providing a like-for-like comparison.
A total of 40 percent of the 4,109 consumers question said that they were likely to buy the iPhone 6, compared to 33 percent for the iPhone 5 and 26 percent for the iPhone 5s …
“This is the highest level of demand for an unannounced Apple model in a ChangeWave survey – stronger than we’ve seen in previous years for the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5 models prior to their announcements,” said Andy Golub of 451 Research. “Speculation over a larger screen iPhone is clearly striking a chord with consumers.”
Consumers were asked to assume that the iPhone 6 would have a larger screen size and a faster processor, with pricing for a two-year contract of $199 (16GB), $299 (32GB) or $399 (64GB).
Consistent reports that Apple plans both a 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch version of the iPhone 6 each have been backed by internal slides from Apple. The phone is expected to be released running iOS 8 with a focus on health and fitness.
It’s been rumored that the 4.7-inch model could be released before a larger 5.5-inch version.

“no matter how it will look like” ;)
I pretend to buy at least 3 new iPhones, after Apple release the new model or models. I have to replace 2 iPhone 4S and one iPhone 3GS. And I don’t even live in the USA, I live in Brazil.
If the screen size is the reported 4.7 then I will get one.
There were a lot more of the iPhone 5s sold than the iPhone 5, yet the very + somewhat likely responses for the iPhone 5s totaled to 26% of the people polled, while there was a much higher 33% of people for the iPhone 5.
This is the opposite of what happened. These polls by ChangeWave don’t seem to be very reliable as indicators for actual sales.
A high number of people plan to buy a fantasy phone?
Maybe Apple will enlarge the screen. It would behave Apple to further copy Samsung.
How many might hold off buying a 4.7” to see reviews / release of a larger phone?
If the release is staggered, it will be strange indeed. While I’m already thinking 5.5″ is too big for me, I think I may want to see it and hold it before committing to a 4.7″ phone.
I am certainly not alone in that thinking.
At this point in my life, I still have yet to purchase a ‘smart phone’ of any kind. Phone companies force people to get a data plan which costs an additional 40 – 50 dollars per month which is ridiculous! Why not offer a phone plan without data so it can be used on WiFi if I wish but still use it as a phone. I will stick with my old flip phone.
I can’t blame these people to buy the stuff to look cool and trendy and avant-garde, apple as been have to built such an aura around their brand to be a fashion thing people want no mater-what.
This is not possible. Tallest skil doesn’t approve of the increase in size and will not be getting one.
He also thinks anyone who wants a larger iPhone is an idiot who should shut up and die.
So, in short, there will not be a larger iPhone.
How does one go about reporting libel to WordPress for account moderation?
Because I’m going to do that to you.
LOL wtf ever tool. You personally attack everyone on these forums, and YOU want to report someone. hahahahahah best joke I have heard all day.
Now shut up and go away.
Hey, enjoy your life, kiddo.
Pent up demand for the larger screen maybe?
This is a no-brainer, but apparently Apple got it wrong. Of course there MUST be iPhones with larger screen sizes and not just the meager and fail-worthy iPhone 4 to iPhone 5 screen size, because Phil said “….its the thumb that decides the screen size”. Come on, who you’re kidding here? No one holds an iphone with just one hand. Amazing this tech giant can get things so wrong. At least now, hopefully they’re rectifying but behind the competition in terms of screen size. And 4.7″ is just not enough, I surely hope the 5.5″ will come sooner rather than later!
I wonder if Apple did this on purpose, because they had a back catalog/obligation to use the rest of available iPhone 5 screen sizes and so the 5S was released.
