T-Mobile CEO John Legere wishes you a NSFW Christmas (Video)

T-Mobile CEO John Legere is known for trolling his competitors, and it looks like he decided to—in the spirit of the season, of course—mock them some more as a Christmas gift. T-Mobile has spent the entire year going through several different “uncarrier” events (now totaling eight), attacking its competitors and introducing services and features that it hopes will set it apart. And as Legere touches on in the below video, plenty of people seem to have been convinced that switching is worth their time…

The premise of the video is pretty simple. Legere is sitting on a chair around the fire, wearing a pink Batman shirt (of course) and reading a poem in the style of “Twas the Night Before Christmas.” According to the CEO, the letter is written with his customers, employees, and competitors in mind, but it seems like he focuses mostly on the last item on that list. He even takes a direct shot at AT&T CEO Randall L. Stephenson, saying “And while Randall was nestled all snug in his bed, I’m up responding to tweets, removing pain points instead.”

The video comes less than a week after T-Mobile won its battle against AT&T and Verizon over data roaming charges, with the FCC granting T-Mobile’s request for the commission to offer guidance for determining whether or not industry roaming agreements are reasonable. While Sprint supported T-Mobile’s claim that both AT&T and Verizon charge their smaller competitors artificially high prices for data roaming, the latter two companies denounced the ruling, saying that there is no reason for the FCC to interfere.

    I think the T-Mobile schtick is wearing thin. I’ll admit they are making things better for everyone pricing-wise but I have a few friends and coworkers who have T-Mobile and they still have coverage issue. The only reason they stick with it is the price not because the service is just as good but lower in price.

      Agree, coverage is not as great as AT&T or Verizon, but where coverage is good, it’s damn better than either of the other 3 carriers. 3 lines here with unlimited everything for $140, not complaining one bit. I’m on happy camper.

      Coverage could certainly be better, but the price is great for me and they’ve provided plenty of perks (wideband audio, better service where there is coverage, free hotspot, etc.) to make it totally worth it.

      Agreed. Switched this year and have had probably the worst service I’ve had since my original iPhone. The price is good but I’m constantly dropping calls and haven’t been able to load maps for the past 3 weeks… But that price.

        If the service is not up to your needs, move on to another carrier.

      Anecdotes are a dime a dozen. I have 8 members on my family plan, none of them complain even when I ask. I know planty of other folks with great stories.

      I literally pay half of what we used to on either VZ or ATT and the important part – *there are no overages*. My family line members billing has been almost completely constant – this is important, it means less stress for me. That’s equally important as lower overall subscription cost.

  2. Bang for buck T-mob can’t be beat. Have no complaints so far. I loved when on the rare occasion I hit my data cap I didn’t get slapped with absurdo overage charges, now I’m really going to love all that rollover data I never used. I had a feeling switching back was going to be a good move, didn’t expect it to be this good!

    They would rather have us pay $25 for a specialty router, rather than invest in spreading out their towers and coverage? No, thanks. AT&T has an “un-carrier” answer through GoPhone and Cricket, I’ll stick with them, pay only for the occasional text and talk on my iPhone 6 Plus while using wifi for my data usage, tyvw.

      You don’t “pay” for the router, it’s a deposit. Once you return it, you get your money back, or you can buy it for like $90 or something like that.

    • Actually T-mo has invested in millions of dollars of improvements in its infrastructure, and T-mo customers have noticed it. The main problem is that AT&T and Verizon have an unfair competitive advantage because they hold the lion’s share of low band spectrum which travels further distances and penetrates buildings better than some of the smaller carriers. If T-mo and Legere get their way, the FCC will help level the overall playing field by setting aside appreciable blocks of lower band spectrum in the 2015 auction for smaller carriers.

    I am really enjoying this company’s attempts at being the Uncarrier….I may have to find a way to switch down the road.

    Been watching and comparing coverage for some time now. Been on ATT for years. Tried Sprint, hated it and their lousy customer service. Verizon is just overpriced, period. I’m getting fed up with my ATT bill now. Simply can’t afford it any more. If T-Mobile can come up with a financially sound plan to break my contract for 4 devices, I may take the plunge. I like their spirit and attitude. When it comes down to it, good ol’ customer service trumps everything.

    If TM improves their coverage I will gladly switch. For now, it isn’t there for me, but keep up the good work TM.
