Back in September, Sonos unveiled an impressive new feature for its wireless speakers called Trueplay. Using the built-in microphones on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, this Sonos feature lets you fine tune your speaker to the room it’s in while optimizing the sound regardless of placement. Starting today, Sonos users can use try out Trueplay using the latest version of the controller app for iOS.
Trueplay setup is super simple too. Because Trueplay tunes your Sonos speaker to the room and its surroundings, it does require setting up any time you relocate your hardware. But the process takes just a couple minutes and only requires that you pace around the room waving your iOS device up and down enough to catch the audio wave sent from your speaker.
One of the best parts of Trueplay is that it can improve the sound of existing Sonos speakers. Trueplay works through the latest version of the Sonos controller app to fine tune the original and upcoming PLAY:5, and all PLAY:1 and PLAY:3 Sonos speakers. Once you setup Trueplay, you can easily adjust the equalization settings to fit your preferences.
