How to customize low heart rate notifications on Apple Watch

In addition to high heart rate notifications, Apple has recently introduced low heart rate notifications on Apple Watch starting with Series 4. While a low heart rate is generally good, it could also be a sign for other medical conditions.

Now, with the Series 4 you’ll be able to get both high and low heart rate notifications on Apple Watch.

Follow along to learn how to enable notifications for both…

How to customize low heart rate notifications on Apple Watch

  1. Fire up the Watch app on iPhone. Scroll down to Heart.
  2. Tap on Low Heart Rate and choose when Apple Watch should alert you at (40, 45, or 50 bpm). Same goes for High Heart Rate, choose between 100 and 150 bpm. You can also optionally disable both.

It’s nice to hear that Apple is trying to take Apple Watch to the next level when it comes to health. Along with heart rate notifications, the company is also planning to release an ECG/EKG app in a future software update that will allow you to take an ECG by placing your finger on the Digital Crown for 30 seconds.

It’ll be interesting to see how Apple takes Apple Watch next with its ongoing health efforts.
