Apple Vision Pro immersive ‘Adventure’ video shot in Paris premiering this week ahead of international launch

When the Vision Pro first arrived in users’ hands earlier this year, one of its most universally-praised features was content shot in the 180-degree Immersive Video format. There was a limited collection of such immersive content available on day one, but users’ general expectation was that Apple would regularly add to that collection.

Those additions have been slower than anyone expected, but the latest video is finally dropping this Friday, May 24. ‘Parkour’ will arrive for Vision Pro users as the second episode of the ‘Adventure’ series and take viewers on a remarkable parkour tour of Paris.

New video provides a unique Paris experience

The new ‘Parkour’ video will run 12 minutes in length. Here is Apple’s description of it:

Join the world’s leading parkour athletes on a gravity-defying trek across the streets and rooftops of Paris.

The video sounds like the perfect showcase for the strengths of Immersive Video and the Vision Pro. It takes you somewhere special and provides an experience that most people just can’t get on their own.

As Apple moves toward launching the Vision Pro internationally, I hope they’re able to provide a more consistent rollout of new Immersive Video content. In the three months the Vision Pro has been available in the US, the new content has been scarce, limited to the Prehistoric Planet series and a single MLS highlights reel.

9to5Mac’s Take

Apple had a buzzy US launch with the Vision Pro, but its task now is to sustain excitement around the product.

Getting partners like Disney on board to create new immersive experiences, such as the upcoming ‘What If’ app, is a great start. But the company needs to lead the way in creating the kinds of experiences that the Vision Pro is uniquely positioned to offer.

With the expected international rollout soon, and visionOS 2 being unveiled at WWDC, finally delivering on a steady stream of new Immersive Video content could be a strong third pillar to sustain excitement and growth of the Vision Pro platform.
