A heartwarming new Apple holiday video entitled Heartstrings showcases the new hearing aid feature offered by AirPods Pro 2.
It shows the experience of a father being transformed from hearing only muffled sounds as his family opens gifts, sings songs and tells him they love him to being able to clearly hear everyone …
AirPods Pro 2 hearing aid feature
The new feature was announced back in September as a free software update for AirPods Pro 2.
Firstly, users can take a clinically-validated hearing test. The hearing test uses your AirPods and iPhone, and can be conducted by a user in under five times. The result of your hearing test can be viewed securely in the Health app.
If hearing loss is detected, the hearing aid mode is then available to use. The AirPods will make it easier to hear sounds from the world around you. A custom hearing profile is automatically applied when listening to audio, like music or podcasts.
FDA approval quickly followed.
The news was particularly welcome as it offers better assistance than dedicated over-the-counter hearing aids at a far lower price while matching the performance of products with customized hearing profiles for those with mild to moderate hearing loss.
Heartwarming Apple holiday ad
The holiday ad was posted to Apple’s YouTube channel today. Apple says millions of people currently live with undiagnosed hearing loss.
For so many of us, sound and how we hear shape how we connect to the world around us. Yet, people with hearing loss wait an average of 10 years before getting their hearing tested and fitted for hearing aids. Leaving millions unaware they’re living with hearing loss and without the assistance they need.
Now with the world’s first end-to-end hearing health experience, you have access to a Hearing Test that provides scientifically validated results within minutes and the ability to activate a clinical-grade Hearing Aid feature on your AirPods Pro 2 — right from home.
