We have our first sellout!

Following pre-orders going live today for Apple’s new iPhone 5c, shipping times for the yellow, unlocked model of the device have just slipped from the expected delivery date of September 20 to “available to ship by 9/25.” That’s only for the 16GB model of the device, as all other colors and models are currently still listed as arriving by the previously announced Sept. 20 release date.

The device is also currently listed as shipping in 1-2 weeks on Apple’s Hong Kong website and in Canada all models and colors of the iPhone 5c are shipping between Sept. 20 and Sept. 24.

Apple is currently accepting preorders for the new iPhone 5c in the US, UK, Hong Kong, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, and Singapore, and previously announced that the device would begin shipping alongside the new iPhone 5s later this month on September 20. Apple is still listing a delivery date of Sept. 20 in all other launch countries for the iPhone 5c, but we’ll keep you updated if shipping times slip in other countries.

Other than Apple, a number of its carrier and retail partners are also accepting for preorders for the iPhone 5c starting today, but Apple isn’t making preorders available for the iPhone 5s before its release.

  1. it still shows 9/20 on apple site

  2. Asphalt 8 is free in the USA app store

  3. So how do those Wall Scum nay-sayers explain this massive demand for the 5C? That’s right, they can’t, because they’re clueless!

Judging by the speed of sales, especially in Hong Kong, this thing is going to a massive hit for Apple!

    • I dunno if you’re being sarcastic but unless you know the preorder numbers or the stock quantity you’re in no position to assume there is massive demand for this phone. I’ll just throw this out there, though:

IIRC, the iPhone 5 sold out its initial stock in about an hour after going up for preorder. The 5C went up for preorder almost 11 hours ago and as of this writing, every single model is still available for release date shipping somewhere. I’m in America and contrary to what the article title implies, the yellow unlocked 16GB iPhone 5c is still available for release date shipping. You just have to get one that comes with a T-Mobile SIM.

This could be because Apple has a relative surplus of stock or because the demand of this phone is relatively low or a combination of both. My point is you don’t know (if I’m wrong then please show the numbers).

  4. Yellow being a “good luck” color in China and other parts.

  5. But, but … ? All the clever financial analysts have dumped AAPL stock because they were sure that the iPhone 5C was way to expensive for those poor Chinese? Especially unsubsidized!? How can this be? It’s almost as if all the analysts were … wrong? ;-)
