Southwest Airlines app for iOS updated with Passbook support

Southwest Airlines has updated its mobile app with support for Apple’s Passbook, allowing users to quickly access their boarding passes from the lock screen when boarding a flight. The Passbook card also presents critical information about a passenger’s flight, including departure time and gate, and flight number.

The new version of the app also includes fixes for issues reported by users. It’s available now from the App Store for free.

United has had this connection for a while. Their app sucks but at least one can pretty easily get boarding passes listed in Passbook.

But then you have to fly in a United plane.

      I’ll take Southwest.

I agree, United’s not a great carrier any more but alas, I have a lot of miles and status from 25 years of heavy flying worldwide. Until that status wears off, I’m sort of stuck with them.

I have both the updated Southwest app running and Passbook. SW does not show up in Passbook. Is there any way to get it into Passbook?

The app itself is not going to show up in Passbook. The update is to allow you to transfer boarding passes to Passbook from the app.

    • I just flew Southwest from Denver to San Antonio. When I checked in my boarding pass automatically came up in Passbook. When I arrived at DIA I looked at my phone and there it was on notification. I opened the phone and it went straight to the boarding pass. Checked in through security using it on their reader. Put phone away. When time to board looked at phone it was there again. Placed under gate agents scanner and was on the flight. Nice!

Doesnt seem to work if you have multiple passengers on the reservation
