Siri learns Russian, Danish, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Thai and Turkish for iOS 8.3 beta 2

In addition to Wireless CarPlay, more diverse Emojis, and improved logging in for Google services, iOS 8.3 adds a major new feature: several new languages for Siri. Over three years following the initial Siri beta in 2011, iOS 8.3 adds support for the following languages in Siri: Russian, Danish, Dutch, Portuguese, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, and English for India…

Some of these languages were forecasted for a future version of Siri by way of multiple Apple job listings posted over the past couple of years. The new options are accessible via the Siri settings panel on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 8.3 is scheduled for release later this year and a Public Beta will be released in mid-March, according to sources. Apple is also developing iOS 8.2 for release in March, iOS 8.4 with the new music streaming service for the summer, and iOS 9 for the fall.

      • appgarlaschelli - 10 years ago

        no, sorry. only Brazilian Portuguese

      • Bruno Fernandes (@Linkb8) - 10 years ago

Yeah, Brazil has a lot of people, so I can understand supporting their pronunciation, but come on Apple, seriously? No Iberian Portuguese? FFS.

      • RicardoTuga - 10 years ago

If this info. are correct this are a little boring. I need Portuguese from Portugal… How many years will take? I can’t talk the whole time in English from USA. I don’t use siri because don’t support my language.
Good Work, but carry on plz!

  8. Bruno Fernandes (@Linkb8) - 10 years ago

Maybe instead of gong whole-hog on a car, Apple might try to speed up releasing anchor features of their platform in all regions in a timely manner? 3 years. Wow.

Now they just have to make Siri not suck.

  9. krikaoli - 10 years ago

    Finally Portuguese!  🙌 🙌🙌 🙌🙌 🙌🙌 🙌

  10. Robin van Gog - 10 years ago

Can CarPlay now be used in Netherlands?

  11. João Gabriel Sacco - 10 years ago

All Brazilians are literally having a huge orgasm right now. Seriously. WOW. Apple seduce me I love you so much. Marry me. HUE HUE BRBR

  12. Paul Yurchuk - 10 years ago

Siri talks in Russian very comical. But this is a first step and that’s great!

  13. João Gabriel Sacco - 10 years ago

In Brazilian Portuguese we don’t say “I’ve achieved all of my life goals”. We say “Siri em português huehue” and I think it’s beautiful!

  14. krikaoli - 10 years ago

Basic error already found, Siri it is Português and not “Portugués”… Well very bad don’t know even how to write correctly the language that is suppose to support… Either way, it is a start… finally.

  15. Finally! It only took 4 years before Siri came in Danish..

  16. Brazilian Portuguese? Boy, that will be comical to try to speak… :(

  17. Mario Cunha - 10 years ago

    Still not Portuguese….. I mean European…. I’m losing my hope :(

  18. But, WHAT!?
How can they add Swedish and Danish, but not Norwegian?!

  19. Nuno Sousa - 10 years ago

Siri. Por favor fala em Português de Portugal.

  20. Daniel Perván - 10 years ago

    Äntligen!

  21. Josip Ricov (@Josip_R) - 10 years ago

Still no Croatian? :( tho Apple has made records for some dialects, we have a lot of them for small country. :)

  22. What about Norwegian? Strange if only the other scandinavian languages Swedish and Danish are added…

  23. oysv - 10 years ago

Norwegian? Not so many people, but …

  24. Povilas Griškevičius - 10 years ago

I lost all hope for Lithuanian being added very long time ago. Apple has balls to sell the device here, but they can’t even translate the interface to Lithuanian. Siri? Forget it.

  25. Sigfús Elvar Vatnsdal - 10 years ago

Will there ever be a support for icelandic language? or maybe just Icelandic English?

  26. Alex Habba - 10 years ago

Is anybody having the issue with it saying: Sorry, could you say that again? Siri won’t let me speak. Using iOS 8.3 Beta 2 iPhone 6 Verizon
