More MacBook Core i5, i7 sightings. This time in New Zealand
This is getting a little silly isn't it? Apple reseller, Tosh Computers updated their MacBook Pro line yesterday with some pretty mouthwatering new computers.
Released in April(?!) 2010, these are somewhat believable specs for new Core i5 and i7 MacBook Pros which top out at 640GB HDDs or 256GB SSDs. We especially like getting the Express Card slot back in the 15-inch model. On the fake side, Nvidia can't sell 9400M chipsets with Core i5 and i7 processors. Expect discrete Nvidia Optimus or ATI video cards on Intel chipsets similar to 27-inch iMacs. (Thanks commenter)
But alas, this is probably just a publicity stunt. Anyway head over to New Zealand (updated w/Google cache, their site taken offline—weird!) for the latest in MacBook Pros from the future.
BTW - This site was actually updated from Core 2 Duos here.

This is pretty fake. When the i3, i5, i7 Macbooks hit they will have the new Nvidia Optimus chip. The old integrated 9400 is a chipset that Intel won't allow Nvidia to make for the "i" series. It will be the new discrete card. And the express card slot won't be there. Apple doesn't ever recant on their mistakes that fast. Come on 9 to 5 you already know all this stuff. Don't fall for this.
"But alas, this is probably a publicity stunt" not sure we fell for it.
@ St3v3 - Dont you remember the FIREWIRE SAGa? APPLE took it away, gave it back, then took it away on the macbooks...They did this in under a year. I could see express card coming back. Either way I don't really care. But I'm just saying, it could come back that quick. It's been done before.
Eh, what are the chances that they actually would know they're coming? Apple really doesn't tell anyone. Ever....
Why on earth would they upgrade the HD and processor but leave in the really old graphics cards? That automatically tells me that it's phoney.
Good find 9to5... not sure if it means anything, but it does excite the imagination... fun stuff.I don't really care when they come out, just as long as they are out for me to use with back to school promo.QUESTION - Does anyone think that iPad will have an educational discount? Or included in the back to school promo this year?
Probably not. The education discounts and promos are usually for products that have been around a while, that they're trying to clear out before new stuff comes out.
If Apple will use 9400M + 9600M graphics, I am buying HP's 15-inch ENVY and then i will install Mac OS X on that...
HAHA! Good luck! Funniest thing I've read all day...
it's not funny at all. Why pay premium price for 2+ year old technology?
It is funny because you think you can install OSx on a hp envy!!! Haha...
Besides, going from a MacBook trackpad to an envy trackpad will make you really sad. Trust me.
Envy is a really nice product. you must not know computers. typical fanboy. probably wear tight pants too.
He said it has a terrible trackpad. I have not seen one review online that hasnt said the envy 15 has a terrible trackpad.
Haha... I must not know computers because I don't think the trackpad is nice? I know the envy line and have seriously considered buying one when I did some work for Microsoft last fall.
I'm not a fanboy, but I do know (everyone will agree) that the trackpad sucks and you can't install mac os on it - atleast without huge problems. Now let's see who doesn't know how computers work... Douche n00b.
This is just a small time operator taking advantage of some free publicity. Its not that the site is down, they often bock access from USA IP Addresses. Try hitting it from an overseas proxy & it renders fine.
9400M + 9600M graphics can't be utilized with i3, i5 or i7 processors due to Nvidia doesn't have the necessary license from Intel for the bus.So this entry seems have some misinformation.Yes a Nvidia GPU can be used but not in the similar combination as the current Core 2 series with one integrated into the south bridge and the other as the main.
Exactly right, also this has been advertised on the website for a number of days now, I'm to lazy to pull up an actual link but the macrumors forum thread ' the unofficial waiting for arrandale part 4' had this days ago
What happened to the article on O2 and the video calls?

I can't believe nobody saw this: http://www.toshnewzealand.com/index.php?cPath=39 iPad PRICING FOR NEW ZEALAND AND LAUNCH DATE!! :P
I CAN'T OPEN IT.
when the macbook pros were first launched, they were ahead of everybody else. Now, apple is being extremely shameless charging more than twice as much for worse specs. check out the sony vaio f, for example, it totally owns the 15 inch macbook pro in all aspects but battery life, while costing 700 dollars less, which I can use to buy a few extra batteries to beat the mac book pro. While OSX is nice, it is not 700 bucks nice. Especially when things go wrong. OSX is the worst OS to have when things go wrong (as they have been with some of the newest updates).
Don't worry guys, I had a heated argument with this company and it turns out they're straight up lying. They know nothing.
it now says "EXPECTED release in April 2010" http://www.toshnewzealand.com/index.php?cPath=17&osCsid=27632d7bc27e9e66...
The i5 quad cores are by far the best bang for buck processors out there.
Given their recent track record; The less sense the configuration makes, the more likely it's what Apple is actually doing.
2009 MacBook Pro´s aren´t PRO at all. I need an update this month, otherwise i´ll buy a Vaio. You´re losing customers, Apple...upgrade right now!!!
tosh computers are NOT an authorised reseller. They are parallels importers. So i highly doubt they would know about new models.
The latest..
