On the ‘Built-in Apps’ page in the iPhone 5s and 5c section of Apple’s website, although the actual app screenshots look the same, Apple is using new (flatter) iOS icons for the iLife and iWork suites designed to match the style of iOS 7. The iPhoto and GarageBand icons are identical to the ones that were leaked last week in the iCloud Storage preferences.
However, this is the first time the new iOS 7 style iMovie, Pages, Numbers and Keynote icons have been seen. Although iMovie looks relatively similar to its skeuomorphic counterpart, the other icons look drastically different featuring bright gradients and white icon glyphs.
Moreover, the same Apple product page reveals that GarageBand will also be going free in the near future (via MacRumors):
GarageBand is free on the App Store for all iOS 7 compatible devices; additional GarageBand instruments and sounds are available with an in-app purchase. iPhoto, iMovie, Pages, Numbers, and Keynote are free on the App Store for qualifying iOS 7 compatible devices activated on or after September 1, 2013. See www.apple.com/ios/whats-new/ for iOS 7 compatible devices. Downloading apps requires an Apple ID.
It seemed odd that GarageBand was left out of the free software bundle last month. Obviously, Apple is looking to rectify this by moving to a freemium model with the app; offering the core functionality for free but making In App Purchases available for extra instruments and sounds.
Also, the website copy reveals new tidbits about the upcoming additions to the suite.
It’s everything you love about viewing, editing, and sharing photos — with the power and simplicity of Multi-Touch. You can quickly organize and compare photos. Brush adjustments onto an image with your finger. Apply professional-quality effects in a single tap. And create beautiful photo books, prints, slideshows, and web journals to share with family and friends.
As a replacement for the now-defunct Cards app, in line with our report from this morning about printing integration into iPhoto, Apple will integrate photo book creation and print features directly into iPhoto for iOS. This will offer a more streamlined experience for users, as only one app (which customers are encouraged to download the first time they open the App Store on their new device) deals with photo management, photo editing and printing.
For Keynote, Apple seems to be expanding the flexibility of the suite. The new version will offer 30 different template themes to start from, a substantial increase from the 12 the app currently has. The copy also talks about a new feature for the iMovie app called iMovie Theater. Apple’s description is unclear on exactly what this feature is, but it seems to somehow simplify the process of sharing your movies across your devices.
Quickly and easily turn your home videos into beautiful HD movies and Hollywood-style trailers with stunning graphics and cinematic soundtracks. Tap Share to have your instant world premiere on YouTube, Facebook, or Vimeo. And with the new iMovie Theater, screen them all on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac — even on your HDTV via Apple TV. It’s like having your own personal theater, everywhere you go.
Apple is expected to show off its newly-redesigned versions of iLife and iWork on Tuesday, at its media event.

Pages <3
all the pages that linked to the (Learn more about ……….) for this bundle is down
By the way, if you go to iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand, Keynote, Pages, Numbers iOS web pages there’s nothing!
What about those who already purchased GarageBand? Will it require paying again for features in the current app? Will it be a completely new app? Will the old one still be available to download?
Sad there is no news about photobooth, no new icons and no new effects :(
Ehm… Photobooth is a built-in app and was updated along with iOS 7 (with a new bright red icon).
Oh there’s a new icon? (I didn’t know because I haven’t updated my iPad yet) are there any new effects in iOS 7??
Photobooth does have a new con on the iPad. it is red and white. Same effects though.
hopefully the rest of apples appstore apps will get updates, new icons and UIs
Hopefully not.
Annnnnddd they’re gone.
I hope they updat IMovie to take advantage of the slow-mo feature on the 5s. Right now if you share a 120fps clip it will not be in slow motion. Unless I’m missing something.
i just saw a new ibooks icon on the iCloud website.
GarageBand will be a freemium? I’m not a big fan of freemium, but I am interested to see how Apple is going to do with it. One question though, I already have GarageBand, does it mean I really wasted $5 and will have to purchase the instruments in-app as well? That would be really stupid.
I was wondering the same thing. I’m not sure if the paid content is all new, or if people who download the app for free will have to pay to get what we have always had with the paid version
Kind of bugged that Garage Band will be freemium since I already purchased it once.
And it doesn’t suck for everyone who paid $30 for the iWork suite with devices activated on/before Aug 31 who we’re planning on a new device next week? I think the new pricing schemes have given plenty of people something to chafe about lol

And it seems that the Apple website people have taken it down now.
Hope, but wouldn’t be surprised, if all the free apps eventually become freemium.
Can’t wait to see the new apps. In the meantime here’s a full comparison between all the app icons: http://iosguides.net/apple-reveals-re-designed-ilife-icons/
Pages looks great.
Love all the 3 iWork icons.
These are great. Why aren’t all the stock iOS7 app icons like this?
The pages icon should be blue and the keynote icon should be yellow because thats what colours they were kind of before.
what about those of us who have paid for these in the past?
will get the “freemium” content FOC?
I doubt it…!
GarageBand has to be freemium because Apple licenses the music tracks from outside sources. They’re not going to give away what they have to pay for.
They should really make the Pages icon blue and the Keynote icon orange, simply to let users know that they are compatible with those OTHER apps.
so they aren’t using the Mavericks icon for iBooks?
