Apple and French fashion retailer Colette teasing one day in-store ‘experience’ on September 30th

On its website, French fashions retailer Colette is teasing a ‘one day only experience’, taking place at its stores on September 30th. The event runs from store open to 7 pm local time (via MacGeneration). Other details are unknown.

The invite image sort of resembles the Apple Watch home screen, so maybe this is some sort of special demonstration of the upcoming product. There is a possibility that Colette will sell the device in its store when the Watch is released ‘early next year’. Although this would make sense due to the connection with fashion, it would still be weird for the company to demo the product in public when it is still many months off release.

It’s hard to think of what else Apple would want to demo at a clothing and fashion store, however. Maybe the companies will announce some third-party bands for the Apple Watch, if you aren’t spoilt for choice by the numerous options from Apple?

Feel free to speculate about what you think this event is about in the comments below.

    Apple Pay with Apple Watch?

I’m from Paris and I will certainly be present. If there’s an Apple Watch expo so close to my college (about 20 minutes) I need to be there :D

It must be related to Apple Watch – look at the seven bigger dots in the center of the invitation they have exactly the same pattern as the Apple watch photo to illustrate features page. Will be there too!

Definitely AppleWatch related and probably the first of many events designed to drive hype into the stratosphere

I really doubt this is an Apple-sanctioned event. That invite design looks like a external designer trying to mimic Apple’s invites, and doing it very very poorly. It was definitely not done by Apple Marcom, who does all the artwork and design for everything Apple-related, from boxes to billboards. If this was an official Apple event, they would have done the invite for it.

Several Apple designers indicated on Instagram that they would be in Paris for Fashion Week. From one of the photos I saw it looked like they were traveling with Jony Ive and Marc Newson on Ive’s private jet.

Well, I don’t know what to make of that. It could be people seeing patterns where there are none. All I know is the invite for this Colette event was definitely not done by Apple Marcom. It’s terrible. The font is wrong, as is the word spacing, and the entire piece is out of balance. If Apple was officially involved, they would not put out such a terrible invite, nor let their partner either. It’s possible Colette did this without Phil Schiller’s blessing; if they did, somebody is going to get chewed-out and/or fired.

Curious to see what it’s all about.
