AT&T’s new promo offers 15GB of data for the price of 10GB

AT&T recently ran a promo that offered double data on a select number of its Mobile Share Value plans. As a follow up, the carrier will soon start extending an extra 5GB of data to customers with 10GB plans at no additional charge. The offer starts tomorrow and runs for a “limited time.”

AT&T hasn’t clarified how long this promo will be available, so you’ll want to move quickly to take advantage of this deal. New and existing customers can add the additional 5GB of data to their Mobile Share plan by visiting att.com or using the carrier’s myAT&T mobile app.

In addition to extra data, Ma Bell’s share plan ships with unlimited talk and text if you happen to care about that sort of thing.

They’re being so generous with they’re data plans lately.

If only they would stop slowing me down once I hit 5gb on my “Unlimited” plan.

I canceled my unlimited plan last month after it co scantly being throttled no matter how much data I used. I was getting between .75 and 1.25 Mbs download speeds. Now I’m getting 10 to 15 Mbs.

Clearly AT&T found some extra bandwidth after you got rid of your unlimited plan.

God I hate the cell carriers.

FTC or FCC are working on removing throttling.

Hopefully it doesn’t drag out in court for 5 years before anything happens.

  2. So is this a clue that AT&T is launching a new $80 10GB tier just like Verizon? and $100 soon becomes the de-facto 15GB plan? Any caveats if one enrolls onto this promo offer and then cannot roll back to 10GB when the $80 plan launches?

I hope that’s what this means.
At least we have more tiers to pick from now. I remember when tiers first showed up: they set that lowest tier so low you’d really have to struggle to stay under. And then the next tier was way more than you needed. Blatant manipulation.
What’s next? AT&T accepting dumb pipe status?

I just called and they don’t know about any free 5GB additional yet. Waiting until tomorrow. (11/18/14)

    Great.

I went from 10 to 15 last month just so I could take advantage of the doubling to 30GB. Just going up to 15 would have taken care of me, and I wouldn’t have signed up for an extra $30 a month.

I thought you could switch plans without penalty.

      • proudappleuser - 9 years ago

You are correct. You can always change your plan without penalty.

Exactly, I did the same thing and would not have, if I would have known I could get 15 GB’s for the same price I was already paying. I didn’t “need” to go all the way to 30 GB’s for an extra $30 a month. This was sneaky and downright irritating. I was thinking about just switching back…accept I just went to my account and discovered that the 10 GB (or 15 GB) is not available to me any longer. They’re just crooks!

Alright. This morning the additional 5GB offering showed for no more money. I changed to it ut so far their data usage graph hasn’t shown the difference. We shall see. THanks for the tip!
