Google today has started rolling out an update to its iOS app for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. The update, the first significant update to come to the app in some amount of time, bumps it to version 7.0 and includes a handful of notable new features.
First off, you can now say “Ok Google” while on any webpage to get detailed answers about whatever topic your researching. For instance, you could say “Ok Google, where was he born?” while reading an article about Paul George. You could also say “Ok Google, how far away is this place?” while reading about a restaurant or shopping location.
Next up, the Google app on iOS now includes more detailed local search results, including improved quick facts like hours, pricing, and location. Finally, there’s also now support for copy and past from anywhere within the app.

Does it need to have the app running in actively? Will it work if the app is running in the background? I dont suppose it will work without running the app first so this is a pain to activate. Siri is still king (or queen) in iOS.
Of course it won’t run in the background, iOS doesn’t support that very well.
The only reason Siri is dominant is because Apple won’t allow Google the ability to integrate Google Now, which is smart because it blows Siri out of the water.
Can you stop using “w/”. Not everyone is aware of what it means and in my opinion, writers should be writing their pieces in english, not internet slang.
“w/” is not internet slang. It is in common use in the US, and far out-dates the internet.
