Apple added 4K editing to iMovie for iOS last month, but only on iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPad Pro. In version 2.2.1, iMovie for iOS expands 4K editing to also support iPad Air 2 so you can shoot video on your new iPhone 6s or 6s Plus and edit it on the latest 9.7-inch tablet.
You’ll need a new 4K 21.5-inch iMac or 5K 27-inch iMac (or Mac with a 4K display) for pixel-for-pixel editing, but it’s good to see Apple supporting the still top-of-the-line 9.7-inch iPad with powerful editing features; iPad Pro doesn’t launch until November. Apple introduced 4K video shooting for the first time on its products with the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.
The update also includes bug fixes for issues with iCloud Drive, the Photos video editing extension, right-to-left languages, and more. Full release notes below:
