Apple planning redesigned iPhone, MacBook Pro, and Apple Watch that are significantly thinner

Last month, Apple unveiled its thinnest product ever with the new M4 iPad Pro. Measuring in at 5.1mm, the 13-inch M4 iPro Pro is even thinner than the iPod nano.

As it turns out, Apple has plans to give the rest of its product lineups a similar treatment, making the iPhone, Apple Watch, and MacBook Pro all significantly thinner.

Ever since Apple wrapped up its WWDC keynote, I’ve seen a continuous stream of posts on X, blogs, etc, about how ‘1Password has been Sherlocked’ by Apple’s dedicated password manager app in iOS 18, macOS Sequoia, and iPadOS 18. I am here to set the record straight: if you think 1Password is competing with Apple as a password manager app for consumers, you haven’t been paying attention to what the company offers today.

watchOS 11 removes Siri face on Apple Watch

Apple Watch Ultra

It was this month a year ago when I posed the question: Will the Siri face survive watchOS 10 and Apple Watch widgets?

To my knowledge, Apple has never retired a watch face. Some are hardware specific, others are redesigned, but watch faces don’t leave the Apple Watch. I think that’s why the Siri watch face still exists for now, but it will need some love to stay relevant.

As of watchOS 10, the Siri watch face is six versions old. It debuted with much potential and made steps toward realizing that potential before it stalled. Now there’s a new widget system on Apple Watch that turns the Siri watch face into an antique. It still has some uniqueness to it, but I’m not sure that will be the case this time next year.

Well, it’s “this time next year” now, and the Siri watch face on Apple Watch has not survived.

Apple’s new Image Playground app to label AI-generated images in metadata

Apple iOS 18 Image Playground

One of the new features of iOS 18 is an app called Image Playground, which is part of the “Apple Intelligence” suite of AI tools coming later this year. With Image Playground, users will be able to generate images from text commands or even based on a photo of someone. We don’t yet have many details about the app since it’s not available in iOS 18 beta 1, but we do know that Apple is planning to label AI-generated images.

Temperature tracking has long been one of my favorite aspects of HomeKit. It’s official: Microsoft’s privacy-panned Recall AI feature is indefinitely delayed

Microsoft's MacBook Air | Copilot+ PCs shown on stage

Microsoft has had quite the few weeks of ups and downs. Following a strong launch event for its AI-centric Copilot Plus PC devices, the hallmark AI feature was deemed by an expert as a ‘security disaster.’ It took a while, but the company responded—not with an apology, but at least with a commitment to make some key changes. For example, while Recall was once opt-out, now it will be opt-in for its public launch.

About that public launch though: it’s no longer happening, at least not any time soon. While Recall was originally planned to ship with the first Copilot Plus PCs, those devices will now ship next week without the controversial feature.

Jon Stewart speaks out following TV+ show’s abrupt end, says Apple didn’t censor him

Jon Stewart interview

Apple TV+ has had a number of shows cancelled over the years, but no cancellation received more attention than that of Jon Stewart’s show, The Problem with Jon Stewart.

Reports indicated Apple and Stewart’s parting of ways had to do with conflicts over topics the show was going to cover, such as AI and China. Stewart only briefly discussed the cancellation previously. But now, in a new podcast interview, he shares in much more depth about what happened.

Apple doesn’t use your data to train Apple Intelligence; other protections

Apple doesn't use your data to train Apple Intelligence | Apple logo on abstract pink background

A research paper explicitly says that Apple doesn’t use your data to train Apple Intelligence. This differs from OpenAI’s policy, which does use your ChatGPT sessions to help train its model.

However, Apple says that it does scrape websites for content via Applebot, and website owners must explicitly opt-out if they don’t want this to happen …
