Apple has released visionOS 2.2 beta 4 for developers. The new software version brings us closer to the expected RC and wide launch soon. Here’s what to expect from the latest beta.

Apple has been slowly bringing its Vision Pro headset to more countries, with a recent expansion to South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. Now the company has just confirmed that Apple Vision Pro will soon be available in Taiwan in time for the holidays.

The Vision Pro is getting close to a year of life, and Apple’s next software update has some big changes in store that could alter usage patterns. Mac Virtual Display, one of the best Vision Pro features, is getting three upgrades in visionOS 2.2 that provide a huge boost to spatial computing.

Vision Pro users know that immersive video is one of the platform’s strengths, but content has been relatively scarce. Apple is reportedly working on a big project to change that: upgrading a popular sports stadium with the tech necessary for live streaming games in immersive video on Vision Pro.

Apple is noted for taking its time when it comes to entering new product categories, but a 2008 patent shows that the company had been working on Vision Pro for at least 15 years before it finally launched.

Both the patent drawing and the description of the device are remarkably consistent with the product that finally launched in 2024 …

Compared to the iPhone and iPad, Apple Vision Pro has a limited number of apps available in the App Store. Even so, developers have been exploring the device’s capabilities with different projects, one of which is the Formula 1 app “Lapz.” Unfortunately, the app may not even make it to the App Store.

Apple is rolling out the latest developer betas for visionOS 2.2 and tvOS 18.2. Beta 3 arrives not long after last week’s beta 2 releases, and brings the latest refinements to these upcoming software updates.
