You got to know when to hold em'...

Bill Gates is folding. You got to hand it to the guy. He knows when to get out while the getting is good. Kenny Rogers would be proud.

Et tu, Bono?

Et tu, Bono?

I thought it was funny that

I thought it was funny that he had Jay-Z (possibly joining with Apple in a music venture) and Al Gore (sits on Apple board of directors) in the video.

Did he just say "big

Did he just say "big pimpin"? Nope, not watching the rest...

An inconvenient time :P

An inconvenient time :P

I think he wants to get

I think he wants to get popular now. If he goes the same way the character of the Apple ads goes, he maybe get popular, because if you think a little bit, the most commented character of the Apple ads is the PC guy not the Mac guy... so maybe he wants to get fans now. stupiod bastard.

"I think he wants to get

"I think he wants to get popular now"

Um... he IS popular (even if it's mostly for being so freaking rich). Everyone knows who Bill Gates is. He's even referred to in money-pimping rap songs, which may explain the Jay-Z cameo.

On the other hand, most of my fellow Mac-using friends just stare blankly when I say "Steve Jobs just announced..." Then they respond, "Who's Steve Jobs?"

I've been watching the interviews that Gizmodo did with him over this week and I must admit that I've never seen the guy so relaxed and comfortable. This may sound horrible, since I'm a fan of sites like this and a Mac-user, but judging by the conversations with him (and the fact that he granted young Gizmodo-readers the interview at all), I'd probably choose to have lunch and beer with Bill Gates over Steve Jobs.

That's just me, though :D

I'd feel pretty damn

I'd feel pretty damn comfortable with billions in the bank on my way out the door. Talk about "winning the game". ;) Plus he doesn't have to worry about the DOJ anymore. I imagine that was really grating on him. No way a ruthless shark like him would want to be constrained like that. I don't think it's coincidence of movement out of day-to-day management and the softening culture change that's happened in Microsoft in the last year or two that is likely to get them out of the current DOJ leash they are on.

P.S. By popular I think he implied more than just "[in]famous".

trying to look like an

Gotta give him credit. Well done, and pretty funny. Takes a big man...
(PS, I loathe MS stuff!)

Yep, takes a big man to

Yep, takes a big man to bolster his public image through cameos. What a guy...!

To paraphrase -
He who won't miss Bill Gates when he's gone has no heart.
He who wants him back has no brain.

The same goes for that foul IT-industry-raping company he built.

and yes i feel much better now.

Gates has work to do with

Gates has work to do with the billions he has to give away, love him or hate him, he's and intelectual genious who created one of the most successfull companies in the world, he's trying to change the lives of others with his vast wealth.

I'd love to see Steve Jobs step up and declare he's going to help the undereducated aind improvished and give most of his billions away.
