Update (10/1 1:00pm): Boost Mobile has announced new monthly plans with “growing data.” When enrolled in one of these plans you’ll earn an extra 500MB of high-speed monthly data (up to 3GB) for every 3 on-time payments you make.
Apple’s latest flagship iPhone isn’t even a week old yet, but it’s already getting its first significant discount. Boost Mobile (a pre-paid arm of Sprint’s Network) offers the 16GB iPhone 6s in Space Gray for $549.99 (already $100 below list), but applying coupon code B6677847 during checkout drops your final price down to just $449.99 with free shipping. That’s $199.01 below Apple’s retail price and a pretty crazy deal for such a new release. This iPhone comes free from any contracts, but is locked to Boost Mobile’s service. Prepaid plans with unlimited data, talk, and text start at just $35 $30 per month so it is actually a pretty solid deal all the way around if you live in a good Sprint coverage area.

If you want to upgrade your iPhone without the hassle of going to a store, Sprint will soon bring the phone to you and set up the phone there. The company’s free Direct 2 You service has launched in Sprint’s hometown of Kansas, comes to Miami and Chicago next week and will be rolling out to other cities later, with a total of 5,000 cars expected to be in service by the end of the year.

Sprint prepaid subsidiary Boost Mobile announced today that it will begin carrying the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus for customers starting next Friday on October 17th. As it has done in the past with the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, Boost Mobile will carry the new iPhone models for $100 off the usual retail price of each device. Launching today, the iPhone 5s and 5c are $100 off of Apple’s retail price if ordered online. Along with US Cellular who announced on Friday, Boost Mobile will now also offer the iPhone 5s and 5c on November 8th according to short press release this morning (below).
Boost is a Sprint Co. pre-paid sister site of Virgin, which also announced iPhone 5s and 5c availability last month with $100 off retail pricing and $30/month plans. Boost Mobile iPhone media (above) was leaked last month.
Nine other regional carriers have announced iPhone 5s/5c availability on November 1st.

We knew Virgin Mobile was launching the iPhone 5s and 5c today, but we weren’t expecting a $100-off starting price. That’s what’s on offer today from the Sprint subsidiary (Sprint will also knock off $100 the subsidized plans if you are a new customer – so much for loyalty benefits).
Virgin’s plans are the least expensive out there, especially considering they include unlimited data and start at $30/month.
Another Sprint pre-paid subsidy, Boost mobile is likely going to offer the iPhone in coming days/weeks/months.

More fun stuff surfaced today from the Apple vs. Samsung trial. Pictured above are Samsung’s sales numbers for its smartphones in the U.S. Perhaps most surprisingly is that Samsung’s best selling phone by unit number is Boost Mobile’s Samsung Prevail, which sold 2.255 million units. Finishing in second and third were the Samsung Epic 4G and the Galaxy S2 Epic Touch both on Sprint. That means Samsung’s top three devices were on Sprint’s network.
Meanwhile, Samsung’s U.S. tablet numbers were below expectations. They totaled just over 1.4 million since the fourth quarter of 2010 (what happened to the Galaxy Tab 8.9? And I do not see the Galaxy Note phablet either above or below).
Then there were Apple’s much bigger numbers, below:
There is a rumor floating around today that surfaced conspicuously/immediately after the Cricket pre-paid phone was announced. If Cricket got the iPhone, it would make sense that Boost could also get the iPhone. Even we said:
Sprint, which carries the iPhone, and owns two big prepaid networks in Virgin and Boost Mobile, will likely have an iPhone prepaid offering in the coming months too.
Both Boost and Virgin use the same CDMA as Cricket, so it is not a technology barrier by any means.
However, according to our sources, Boost getting the iPhone this September is purely fiction.
We’re not sure if Boost isn’t getting it at all, or perhaps the timing is off, or perhaps Sprint’s more premium Pre-Paid service, Virgin, is getting the iPhone.
