The first half of the Tim Cook interview with Charlie Rose is now available to watch — in full — on the CharlieRose.com website. Cook discusses the thinking behind the Watch, purchasing Beats, partnering with IBM, how he and Steve Jobs discussed Cook becoming CEO and much more. Bitesize highlights were posted a few days ago. The video is embedded below, although may not be available to view in all countries.
The second hour of the interview will air on Monday and should be posted online soon after its television debut. Rose teases the second part at the end of the video, saying he asks Cook ‘what comes after the internet?’.

Of course manufacturers such as Samsung put pressure on Apple to come out with a larger phone however I think we’ll see more demand for the iPhone 6 than we will for the iPhone 6 Plus simply because the 5.5″ is too large for the average consumer.
I disagree 180 percent, and so does Apple. It wouldn’t be spending tens if not hundreds of millions on a product that isn’t in demand.
It wasn’t Samsung that pressured Apple for a larger display. It was consumers, such as myself, who wanted a larger display.
The other Samsung features (better battery life, true multitasking, improved camera) are all a “plus.”
If Apple only listened to its followers you’d have no innovation. Companies need to listen to market demands, otherwise they will fail.
I think what your missing here is that Consumers pressured Apple into a larger phone, consumers also really don’t know what they want.
Technology is about “aha” moments. Moments when they use something in a way they didn’t know they could and all of a sudden, click, they can’t live without it.
The iPhone 6 will end up being the most sold iPhone this generation, there’s no fighting it. Some people who really need larger displays or people that easily work with that is fine but the average person, no.
The only thing that consumers know they want is choice. The beauty of iPhone 6/6+ is that instead of the choice being between Apple and another manufacturer they now have the ability to make the choice become Apple vs Apple.
Robot trolls cannot be consumers.
And yet it was the 6 plus that sold out before the 6. There is a huge demand, particularly in Asia-Pacific for large screen phones because it fits that middle ground between a tablet and a phone – just because the skinny jeans brigade can’t fit a 5.5″ phone in their pocket doesn’t mean that the large number of people don’t want a bigger phone.
They manufactured more iPhone 6 than iPhone 6 Plus, thats why it sold out before the 6.
great open interview by Tim. Thank you 9to5mac for sharing.
I wonder if Charlie likes the new iPhone 6. Sounds like a fan.

Concerning the App Store opportunities it brings to developers I have to say it’s not working anymore. App market is saturated and with an offering such deep and broad, it’s very hard to discover apps.
Seriously, the App Store and the way software is discovered must be redefined to enable and boost app-economy.
I have to say that I have warmed to Tim Cook. He is clearly very intelligent, and crucially thinks through things in a profound way. His interest in everything fitness/health related is going to be a MASSIVE area for the future, nd it’s clear the iWatch v1 is just the beginning of a massive journey apple is embarking on. Also i’m clearly of the view now that TC isnt going to leave Apple anytime soon. He almost sounds like he’s taken an oath to himself to be the guarantee of the company for his entire life there. Also good is to read is that security stuff is really on their agenda. and they’re working on more of that.
Honestly I’m not trying to troll; welcome to the feelings that those of us have had that knew about Tim, his history and abilities before Steve passed. There’s never been a question. He’s not Steve, no way. But he’s brilliant and I assure you he’s never had plans to leave Apple. He is his own unique self and he has a lot to offer Apple. There were a great deal of people that didn’t really know him and I get that, but for the year or two before Steve passed, there was no question Tim was the next CEO.
Cook is one of the most dull and uninteresting people to listen to.
While that may be true, he still seems like a really great guy.
What do you people think should come after the internet?
Robots.
Great interview. Though Charlie needs to not talk over his guests so much.
Where is the second part?
If you have a Hulu subscription you can actually whole of the interview through Hulu on the Apple TV or whatever device that your using have, look for Charlie Rose and pull up the interview that way.
I thought the interview was great, However there’re some things that he’s repeated in other interviews, he’s more open than Steve Jobs publicly when it comes to how Apple works and their product development. Apple is definitely on the upswing right now, and as long as you can get these so-called analyst to stop dropping their stock price because they think Apple needs to develop something every six months, we’re going to see even more great stuff in the few years. I am more than happy to wait for Apple to put out something that’s done right instead of something that’s done rushed.
The interview, at first i don’t quite like the way Tim answer Charlie with official tones, like “this is the biggest advancement in the history of iPhone” sty like that. It is annoying. But then Charlie ask about the company’s vision, and thats the point which i start to think that Tim is actually not a Bad CEO at all. He got those skills to get the job done. He said that being a CEO , is to find the right combination of talented people , and grab them into the company , don’t pick someone like u , but some one totally different from u, in order to fill up each other’s weakness. He also said that he is not trying to be Steve , but to be the best Tim he can be . To me , this shows his wisdom , and that he has the ability to bring apple to the right direction in the future. Great job Tim , now u make me a 100% of apple fans again!!
Wow. I like Tim Cook. He seems to be dedicated to doing things right.
The brilliance of Tim Cook.
I don’t understand how anybody could call this a ‘boring’ interview. Once Cook starts talking about Jobs, competition and the new products, I found this to be a riveting interview.
It would be great if we would also be able to watch Tim Cook’s interview in an iPad? ;)
