Microsoft is releasing the latest version of Skype for Mac today adding support for over a dozen additional languages and performance improvements for users. Beginning with Skype 7.5 for Mac, the communication app will now feature localization for the following languages: Hindi, Turkish, Czech, Ukrainian, Greek, Hungarian, Romanian, Indonesian, Catalan, Croatian, Slovak, Vietnamese, Thai and Malay.
Microsoft also says the latest version of Skype addresses performance issues including “significantly reduced CPU consumption” when using animated characters during chat. Mac users should also see fewer issues related to OS X’s App Nap feature, which could prevent Skype from reconnecting when used in the background.
Skype 7.5 for Mac is available as a free download from Microsoft, and most users should see the update automatically. The latest version requires OS X 10.9 Mavericks or higher.

Pity it’s not releasing a useable version for Windows7!!!
Why are people still using Skype? It’s totally owned by NSA. There are quite a few nice alternatives out there by now. Firefox has Hello since v35, Jitsi is out there allowing encrypted audio and video chat. This will be an interesting year… and if you have some time on your hands, try one of the alternatives.
I think it’s great that Skype is adding new features. My name is Robin and I represent Mikogo. I wanted to stop by because we recently released a blog post that gives Mac users a walk-through on how to screen share and also how to hold an online meeting. Check it out and let us know what you think: https://www.mikogo.com/2015/03/02/screen-sharing-mac-complete-guide/
