MoviePass finds new way to limit remaining members with daily movie lineup restriction

In another erratic move, today MoviePass is letting customers know that it will begin limiting what movies will be available on a daily basis.

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen MoviePass announce that it would stop offering major releases at launch, and also raise its monthly price from $10 to $15.

Then last week, it did an about face and said that it would ditch the $15 pricing, but also kill off the unlimited movie access that the service was built on for a monthly three movie limit for the original price.

Now the struggling service has announced its latest restriction, daily limits on movie choices. As noted by Business Insider, MoviePass sent more specifics to customers in an email than what it shared on Twitter.

As we transition to the new subscription plan, we want to share more details about our service moving forward as part of our commitment to keep you fully informed. For the time being, we will be limiting the films and showtimes that are available to members each day. During this transition period, MoviePass will offer up to six films to choose from daily, including a selection of major studio first-run films and independent releases. In addition, showtime availability may be limited depending on the popularity of those films on the app that particular day.

At this rate, it’s hard to imagine the service lasting much longer, but for now, remaining MoviePass subscribers can see the new limited movie availability calendar here.
