Apple splits hardware team into five key areas, per report

As part of Apple’s reorganization elevating John Ternus to CEO, the company also promoted Johny Srouji to a broader new chief hardware officer role. With this move, the company combined its hardware engineering and hardware technologies divisions into a single organization, overseen by Srouji.

In an email to employees on Monday, Srouji outlined how he plans to organize things in this new structure.

Tim Cook shares open letter of gratitude as he announces Apple CEO transition

Apple today posted a touching open letter from Tim Cook on its website, in which he calls his time as CEO of Apple an “honor and a privilege”. He also describes incoming CEO, John Ternus, as a “brilliant engineer and thinker”.

As announced today, Tim Cook will move to the executive chairman role in September. Ternus is being promoted from his prior role as SVP Hardware Engineering.
