With just about everyone in the tech industry getting in on the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS (including Apple’s own Tim Cook and Dr. Dre), Samsung decided it would also be an appropriate time to mock the iPhone and others in the process.

Apple recruit Dr. Dre finally accepts Tim Cook’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge (Video)

First Phil Schiller nominated Tim Cook for the charity-driven Ice Bucket Challenge challenge, then Cook passed the torch to Dr. Dre.

Today Dre finally proved that he didn’t forget about the challenge and posted a video on YouTube in which he pours an entire trash can of ice water over his head. Of course, it’s likely he also donated to the ALSA, given that he released the video later than the 24 hours participants are usually afforded. But hey, better late than never, right?

Dre nominated Eminem, Snoop Dogg, and Kendrick Lamar.

Tim Cook takes up Phil Schiller’s Ice Bucket Challenge during diversity week beer bash (Video)

Update: Apple has posted an official version of this video to its YouTube channel. See the video below.

Apple CEO Tim Cook took up his marketing chief’s call to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge to raise awareness for ALS during the company’s beer bash earlier tonight. During the party, which is part of Apple’s week of diversity-focused events, Cook took the stage to have a bucket of ice-cold water poured over his head.

As we reported last night, Phil Schiller was the first member of the Apple executive team to take the charity-focused challege, and petitioned Tim Cook to do the same. The two join other tech executives such as Mark Zuckerberg and Satya Nadella in helping raise awareness and money for ALS.

You can check out the video of Cook being doused below. Afterwards, Cook issued the challenge to Disney’s Bob Iger, new Apple recruit Dr. Dre, and musician Michael Franti, who actually dumped the water on Tim.

Phil Schiller joins the ranks of tech execs taking the Ice Bucket Challenge

Apple’s Senior VP of Marketing posted a few photos of himself taking the Ice Bucket Challenge on Twitter today. The challenge was created by former Boston College baseball player Pete Frates in order to raise awareness for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (more commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease).

The challenge itself involves dumping a bucket of ice water over one’s head, then selecting a number of friends to do the same. Those who are challenged to participate but fail to do so within 24 hours are asked to donate to the ALS Association. Donations to the organization have reached over $1.35 million since the challenge started catching on in late July, a spokesperson said. During the same time last year that amount was only $22,000.

Schiller isn’t the first tech executive to jump in on the trend. He was preceded by the likes of Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft’s Satya Nadella. After taking the challenge, Schiller took to Twitter to call on a few others to join him, specifically naming “Chris, Kim, and Tim.” The Chris named in the tweet appears to be NCIS: Los Angeles actor Chris O’Donnell, who was also tagged in the tweet.

Interesting side note: Schiller’s tweet and photo are geotagged from a beach in Half Moon Bay, Califorina.
