Popular email app Newton is out with two new builds for desktop today including a dedicated version for Apple Silicon as well as Linux. Newton says the new M1 Macs are “revolutionary,” prompting it to develop and launch the new version to support them.

On August 7, CloudMagic CEO Rohit Nadhani announced that the company’s popular Newton Mail app would be shutting down come September. Users who paid the annual $99 subscription fee would be refunded, and the app would be no longer. Fortunately though, that doesn’t seem to be the case any longer, as the app has been updated and is back in the iOS App Store with an annual price of $49.
Sad day for those of us who use and love CloudMagic’s Newton mail client. The client, which is currently available on iOS, macOS, Windows, and Android, announced today that it will be killing the app soon.
Newton, one of my favorite third-party email apps, has just launched a new feature called Recap. If you’ve never tried Newton, it reminds me of Mailbox. If you’ve forgotten, Mailbox was an app that Dropbox purchased and shut down a few years later.
