Apple’s incoming CEO John Ternus built his career in hardware, and had little involvement in the company’s services business. However, remarks Ternus reportedly made to Apple employees last week indicate services are set to continue growing at Apple.

Last night, my iPhone Air battery went to zero about 11 PM. I plugged in the USB-C charging cable within seconds of it shutting down, assuming it would immediately boot up again, like you expect. But it didn’t. Minutes passed and nothing happened. There was no low battery indicator visible on the screen; the display was just black. It was like the phone was dead.
It turns out this is a thing. There are several threads online with posts from other iPhone owners describing the exact same issue, seemingly across all iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone Air models …

If you’re in the market for an excellent 3-in-1 charging stand to use with your Apple devices, Anker’s new 3-in-1 Prime MagSafe charger could be an excellent pick. It offers 25W MagSafe charging with Qi2.2 support for iPhone, as well as support for Apple Watch and AirPods – making it an excellent pick for Apple users.

Microsoft recently announced something rather interesting – a voluntary employee buyout. In short, if your age and tenure at the company add up to 70 or greater, you’re able to voluntarily leave the company, retire early, and receive a (likely) hefty payout.
It’s a less hostile form of layoffs, and while I don’t think Apple would implement it for the same reasons as Microsoft, I think it could serve a unique purpose for transforming the company.

Mood tracking apps can be really important and useful, whether you want to be more mindful – or if you need to track it for your therapist. That said, lots of apps either charge a subscription, are lacking in depth, or don’t have everything you might need. InnerPulse aims to solve that, while keeping privacy at the center.

Apple Vision Pro has been one of the most perplexing Apple product launches in recent history. It’s meant to serve as the beginning of an all new product category for Apple – and more importantly – the next generation of computing. And yet, it feels like a complete afterthought to the company.
Under John Ternus, I’m slightly hopeful that we can start to see the product live up to its full potential – though there’s also reason to be skeptical.

Over the last few weeks, I have talked a lot about shadow IT and how it is evolving. I recently did a webinar on AI as the new shadow IT, but there is another area Apple IT administrators need to consider: the web browser. A new report from Omdia, commissioned by Parallels, surveyed 400 IT and cybersecurity professionals and found that 68% of organizations are seeing an increase in browser-based security incidents. Since most enterprise SaaS apps are browser-based, it’s worth considering.

When Aqara announced the Doorbell Camera G400 supported Power over Ethernet, it immediately caught my attention. PoE isn’t for everyone, but if you want it, you’ll likely ignore any option that doesn’t include it. Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 is great as a fallback, but absolutely nothing beats the 24/7 stability of wired cable. The Aqara Doorbell Camera G400 delivers that stability, along with local AI detection and a tall aspect ratio designed to spot packages. Let’s break down exactly what this doorbell brings to Apple Home users.

Kuxiu has made some of my favorite Magsafe battery packs over the years. They were the first to give us a taste of the semi-solid state battery pack, which was ultra-efficient and kept safety in mind. They also brought one of the best features I’ve seen on any MagSafe battery pack: dual-sided MagSafe magnets, which let you add even more MagSafe accessories on top of the battery. Absolute genius. Now they are bringing us their brand new S4 Semi-Solid Safe MagSafe battery pack, and this might be their best one yet. Here is what you need to know.

The Mac’s built-in green LED privacy indicator—paired with those displayed on-screen in macOS—do a solid job of alerting users in real time when the webcam or microphone is active. When you’re actively working on your Mac, they’re hard to miss. But that protection assumes you’re actually there to see the privacy indicators light up.
But what happens when you’re away from your Mac and malware triggers the camera or microphone to quietly record or eavesdrop? How would you know without being there to see it happen?
Well, there’s an app for that.
