MagSafe Monday: UGreen’s MagSafe battery pack can charge three devices at the same time

UGREEN MagSafe

Trying to stand out among all the MagSafe accessories on the market can often be challenging. What makes one battery pack better than the others? What makes one stand better than the others? It can often come down to minor features, pricing, and form factor. That’s precisely what the UGREEN MagSafe battery pack aims to deliver: a robust battery pack at a fair price that can charge up to three devices at the same time.

When Apple released macOS 14.4 back in March, they pulled the plug on support for several commands, including the important launchctl kickstart. This change broke support for Addigy’s MDM Watchdog, a tool designed to keep MDM and software update processes working as expected, but there good news ahead for those struggling with macOS software updates.

Apple @ Work: Do your Macs need malware protection at work?

Apple @ Work is brought to you by Kolide by 1Password, the device trust solution that ensures that if a device isn’t secure, it can’t access your apps. Close the Zero Trust access gap for Okta. Learn more or watch the demo.

I was recently chatting with someone about what it was like in the early days of Apple’s second act with the iPod, and I mentioned that Mac users had the ultimate flex against PC users: no viruses and no malware. This was when PC users could get a virus from simply breathing in the wrong direction. The general argument from the mainstream at the time was that once Macs became popular, they’d be filled with viruses as well. The Mac became popular (especially at work), and the mass virus attacks never arrived. So that begs the question of 2024: Do you need malware protection on macOS at work?

MagSafe Monday: LISEN 3 in 1 Charging Station is the most compact MagSafe dock you’ll find

LISEN 3 in 1 Charging Station

Every desk setup is different. Some people have a Magazine-worthy office with a large desk looking over the Appalachian mountains. Other people have a TV tray with a kitchen chair tucked into the corner. Most people think everyone else is in the former, while in reality, most people have makeshift home offices or some cubes at work. What’s the best MagSafe desk dock for these situations? I’ve found it with the LISEN 3 in 1 Charging Station.

Now that Apple’s Vision Pro has been out a few months (as well as device management support), I wanted to put out a longer form article on my thoughts about it as an enterprise product. This opinion has nothing to do with how I think about it as a consumer product, though. Apple products cross over both industries. As an example, I have a lot of ways that Apple TV could be improved for the enterprise, but that has nothing to do with its usefulness at home. Let’s dive in!

HomeKit Weekly: Eve Aqua is a must-have HomeKit accessory for summer watering season

Eve Aqua

It’s that magical time of year when the sun is shining, the grass is growing, and flowers bloom. It’s almost time for near-perfect weather. Spring generally brings plenty of showers as well. It won’t be long until it’s the dog days of summer where it’s 95 degrees, full sun, and not a raindrop in sight, though. I’ve generally opposed professionally installed irrigation systems because of the maintenance, though. I’ve long enjoyed the Eve Aqua, a way to deploy a maintenance-free and HomeKit-enabled sprinkler system quickly.

Two things are being discussed by every CIO, CEO, and board in 2024: security threats and the impact of AI. Today, companies are caught between a rock and a hard place, grappling with the need to safeguard their operations without hampering their ability to get things done and stay ahead of the competition. This clash between security measures and the pursuit of productivity is nothing new. Still, it’s become more pressing than ever, thanks to increased cyber threats and the rapid growth of generative AI.

MagSafe Monday: MOFT Phone TriPod is the perfect travel MagSafe compatible dock

A few weeks ago, an IT manager I know called me out of the blue to chat. Our conversation naturally led to the state of his Apple fleet, their management challenges, and what they were working on for the future. Outside of security challenges and concerns, he came back to an issue that I think many companies are dealing with: tool sprawl.

HomeKit Weekly: Sylvania’s low-cost HomeKit bulb makes it possible to upgrade all of your lights without taking out a HELOC

SYLVANIA SMART+ Bluetooth Soft White A19 LED Bulb

There are countless options for HomeKit native bulbs that you can buy to transform how your smart home operates completely. The problem for many people is that when you’re looking to change your entire home from traditional bulbs to HomeKit bulbs, it can get pricey in a hurry. Options like Philips Hue are fantastic, but they’re more costly. What if there was an option for a low cost bulb that worked great with HomeKit? That’s what I’ve found in the SYLVANIA SMART+ Bluetooth Soft White A19 LED Bulb. It’s HomeKit compatible at a price that isn’t that much higher than normal LED bulbs.

MagSafe Monday: ESR for Qi2 15W MagSafe car mount delivers fast charging on the go

MagSafe Monday

Oddly enough, wireless charging is one of my top use cases for MagSafe. Some of my earliest MagSafe accessories have been wireless chargers in the car. I don’t have long commutes every day, so I am frequently in and out of the car. The friction of plugging up a charger every time I got into the car was something I was happy to give up. I’ve tried various car chargers with varying degrees of success over the years, but I believe I’ve found the perfect one with the ESR for Qi2 15W MagSafe Car Mount Charger.

HomeKit Weekly: eufyCam 2C is the most affordable (and easiest) way to use HomeKit Secure Video outdoors

eufycam 2c

I’ve been a big proponent of HomeKit cameras built into flood lights as they eliminate the need to get an additional wire or rely on batteries. Sometimes, you want to put a camera somewhere that isn’t easy to wire. HomeKit battery cameras have come a long way in terms of reliability, though. I recently picked up the eufyCam 2C 2 Cam Kit to augment a few areas outside my home that I wanted coverage of but didn’t want to fool with running wires.
