Samsung celebrity spokesman LeBron James gives Apple Watches to teammates

Samsung isn’t having the best of luck with one of its paid celebrity endorsements. After NBA player LeBron James last year tweeted that his Samsung phone had erased its entire contents, Cleveland.com reports that he has just chosen an Apple product as a gift for his teammates.

But before they went their separate ways that night of the meeting, James had another surprise. He gave them all brand new Apple watches

It was another way of displaying his appreciation for his guys.

It’s not the first time Samsung’s sponsorship deals haven’t generated quite the positive publicity the company had hoped.

I’m from Akron so I guess this should hit home for me (0:18 Swensons represent!). But the marriage between Apple and Beats still feels strange and writing about athlete endorsement videos is out of our usual scope.  This is clearly the Beats creative doing what they do best.

Even though his team is down a game in the NBA Championship series against the San Antonio Spurs, athlete LeBron James does have something new to smile about. As part of Apple’s $3 billion acquisition of Beats Electronics and Beats Music, James is due to net a profit of $30 million:

Apple makes a cameo in Beats’ epic World Cup ad (Video)

Apple’s iPhone and MacBook both made appearances in Beats’ new headphones ad celebrating the World Cup. Apple, of course, announced that it is buying Beats Electronics for $3 billion last week, a deal it expects to be approved by the end of September, and featured a Beats plug earlier this week at WWDC when Dr. Dre was phoned in to the keynote and Eddy Cue was photographed wearing Beats headphones…
