Following Apple’s announcement that Tim Cook will step down later this year and be succeeded by hardware chief John Ternus, Bloomberg reports that both executives have shared internal memos about the transition. Read them below.

Apple today posted a touching open letter from Tim Cook on its website, in which he calls his time as CEO of Apple an “honor and a privilege”. He also describes incoming CEO, John Ternus, as a “brilliant engineer and thinker”.

As announced today, Tim Cook will move to the executive chairman role in September. Ternus is being promoted from his prior role as SVP Hardware Engineering.

Alongside today’s announcement that Apple CEO Tim Cook is stepping down, Apple has also elevated Johny Srouji.

Effective immediately, Srouji is becoming Apple’s chief hardware officer, taking on a broader role overseeing Hardware Engineering.
