Tesla Model S: Users over on the Tesla forums noticed last night that the official Tesla Model S iPhone app has now made its way onto the App Store, at least in the US. The app will let Tesla Model S owners check, stop and start charging progress in real time, turn on heating and cooling, locate their vehicle, lock and unlock the car, and more.

– Check charging progress in real time and start or stop charge
– Heat or cool Model S before driving — even if it’s in a garage
– Locate Model S with directions or track its movement across a map
– Flash lights or honk the horn to find Model S when parked
– Vent or close the panoramic roof
– Lock or unlock from afar

Tweetbot for Twitter (iPhone) version 2.7: One of the more popular Twitter iOS clients gets an update today that adds the ability to open links in Chrome and 1Password, as well as support for inline images from Vine and Flickr and a number of other new features.

– Better support for muting Tweets with URLs

Skype for iPad version 4.5: Skype iPad app was updated today with a few welcomed new features. First, users in United States, United Kingdom, Sweden, France, and Estonia will now be able to add money to their Skype account directly from the app. The release notes also said the app now “automatically reconnects a dropped call when your wifi or mobile network reception is poor.”  More new features and fixes below:

1. Need for Speed Most Wanted | $4.99
IGN partnered with EA to give complimentary copies of Need for Speed Most Wanted on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. Just visit IGN’s website for a promo code, or check out the press release for more details. (Note: A few readers said the website is not retrieving promo codes for them, but it is working fine for 9to5Mac. We emailed IGN to alert them of the reports).

2. Get Stuff Done
The second week of Apple’s “Get Stuff Done” promotion on the Mac App Store is now live. The new collection features productivity apps, such as MindNode Pro and Gemini, with huge price cuts, where as last week’s promotion featured task management apps like Clear and Things.

1. Evernote Hello | Free
Version 2.0 just launched with a redesign that makes it easier for users to remember everyone they meet, including the ability to scan business cards and covert them to Hello Contacts with information and pictures from LinkedIn and Facebook. Evernote said unlimited business card scanning for all users is only available for a limited time, though. The update also includes a new Hello Connect function for exchanging information with nearby Hello users, as well as the ability to add richer contact information and related notes from Evernote. As for the redesign, the home screen now features timeline groups people by time and location, while the app automatically pulls contact information from Facebook, LinkedIn, and the address book. It also pushes Hello contacts into users’ address books.

2. Penultimate | Free
Version 4.0 of this note-taking app launched this morning with full Evernote sync capability. For those unaware, Evernote bought Penultimate in May 2012. In today’s update, users can save all Penultimate notes to Evernote, so they can keep, view, and search them across every device with Evernote. The Evernote support also includes storage and Evernote’s handwriting tech to allow handwriting search in Penultimate notes. Folks also have a chance to opt-out of the changes, though. The updated app further sports a redesign, sharper ink for Retina displays, and Russian and Traditional Chinese languages. Oh, and iOS 5 support is coming in the next update.

Version 0.6.0 of this popular mining-like app launched today, and it includes baby animals. Yes, baby animals. Oh, and signs, armor, fancy clouds, as well as gravity for sand and gravel, improved D-pad, and “lots of new blocks.” It also said the next version will allow both falling sand and the sign model when returning from the homepage to disappear, and new screenshots will be added to the store.

1. Little Snitch 50-percent off all week to celebrate 10th anniversary: Objective Development, the developers behind the popular ‘Little Snitch’ network and application monitoring tool, today informed us it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary with a 50-percent off sale. A single license for the software, normally $35, is now available from the developer’s website for under $18.

Since then the little offspring flourished magnificently and became a synonym for the deliberate, attentive and self-determined protection of private data. And the more popular and widespread Little Snitch became over the years, the more often cases became public, where programs deliberately or simply carelessly ignored the protection of personal data, such as a social media program that sent the entire address book without the user’s knowledge to the vendor’s servers. Little Snitch also became famous for uncovering numerous trojans and other malware. Right up to those malicious programs, who took just the mere presence of Little Snitch as a reason to refrain from their malicious performance.

Version 6.4.3 of this social-discovery app features brand new iPhone user profile pages with “extra bling for those of you who are Elite.” Additional updates in the change log include:

Google Currents version 2.0: Google is updating another one of its apps today, its magazine style news reader for tablets and smartphones now sports a new catalog design. The update also includes an Edition sidebar for quick access to categories, a new fast scan feature (Vertical swipe to scan an edition, horizontal swipe advances to next edition), and a new breaking stories section ranked by Google News. This music discovery app just launched today, and it connects users with folks who are interested in the same music and curates a continuous playlist based on the music they’ve shared via Twitter and Facebook. Serendip also recommends artists to follow based on interests. Serendip uniquely, however, goes beyond the audio experience. It displays YouTube and Vevo videos, so users visual needs are satisfied. Oh, and Serendip also has free web app at MyMusicSoulMates.com.

Shutterfly, a photo publishing company, re-launched its Treat Cards app for iOS today. The app originally went live in April 2012, and it is a competitor to Apple’s Cards app. The latest update to version 2.0 includes the following summary in the change log:

Temple Run 2: After launching the follow up in its popular Temple Run series late last week, developer Imangi Studios announced today Temple Run 2 hit over 20 million downloads in just four days on the App Store.

The game rocketed to #1 Free App just eight hours after release, and is currently the #3 Top Grossing App. Free to download, Temple Run 2 is the sequel to the mega-hit original endless runner, Temple Run, which has been download over 170 million times across the App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Marketplace.

Cubase iC Pro: Released on the App Store today, Steinberg Media have launched “The most advanced Cubase remote control app” for controlling Cubase 7/6.5 from your iPhone or iPad. When it comes to getting stuff done, I’m a bit lazy. I procrastinate a lot. I put off my homework, stuff around the house, and just about anything I need to do.

Clearly, I have a problem with procrastination. It’s not just that I want to put things off until the last second. It’s that I’m incredibly bad at scheduling and forget a lot of things.

Sometimes I create a to-do list in Reminders or put items on my iCloud calendar. Then, the night before those items are due, Reminders or Calendar finally shows an alert informing me that I have a very short period of time to actually do it. Of course, that means I end up moving the due date back, or just failing to accomplish whatever task is on the list. Essentially these strategies are useless to me.

Luckily, a new app called Finish seeks to solve this exact issue. The app was designed by two high school students frustrated with the way existing to-do list managers handled things.

Airliner Delta just released the iPad version of its Fly Delta app on the App Store. It allows flyers to browse destinations, plan trips, compare flights, view seat maps, purchase on-board amenities like Wi-Fi, view fly-over photos, download Sky magazines, destination-related music, and movies from iTunes while flying, manage SkyMiles account, check-in to flight, pay for check bags, get flight status, and track flights.

1. Google Coordinate | Free
Google launched its Coordinate app on the Apple App Store, but it is a mobile workforce management tool for businesses and requires a Google Coordinate license to work. Non-consumer Google account users will need iOS 5.1 or later to install it.  The iOS app has an Android version, called Google Maps Coordinate, available on the Google Play Store. The iPhone version touts following features:

• Share real-time location. Google Coordinate enables easy collaboration by enabling businesses to leverage real-time location sharing in just a few clicks.
• Manage jobs. Google Coordinate makes it easy to capture all the information needed for a job and to assign them to your team members with instant notifications.
• Collect data. Google Coordinate allows the admin to customize the fields that the mobile team needs to capture and collect – from measurements to client contact details – directly in the app.

Version 1.4.0 is now live. Roxio gave the following update description:

LinkedIn just published a post on its blog officially announcing it reached 200 million members:

We recently crossed an important and exciting milestone for the company. LinkedIn now counts over 200 million members as part of our network, with representation in more than 200 countries and territories. We serve our members in 19 languages around the world.

In terms of fastest mobile growth, the LinkedIn app is gaining popularity in China, Brazil, Portugal, India, and Italy.

This video software app employs a Quad720 Immersive Video Player so users can experience ultra high-resolution 5K immersive videos, get “transported to events around the world” with its live-enabled video player, and shoot and experience video with an upcoming iOS app and web player. The software also supports video files shot with RED, GoPro, and DSLR cameras. Unfortunately, the latest update will delete all the content from users’ existing Condition One app.

1. Netflix | Free
Netflix and Warner Bros. Television Group today announced a licensing agreement today that allows U.S. Netflix members to get access to eight shows, as well as potential future shows, produced by Warner Bros:

Among the shows coming to Netflix next year will be “Revolution,” a drama for NBC from J.J. Abrams ‘ Bad Robot Productions set in a post-apocalyptic America which ranks as the #1 new series of the 2012–13 television season; “Political Animals,” the USA Network miniseries with Sigourney Weaver in a Golden Globe– and Screen Actors Guild Award–nominated role as a former First Lady serving as Secretary of State; “Longmire,” A&E’s top-rated Western mystery series based on the novels by best-selling author Craig Johnson ; and “666 Park Avenue,” the ABC supernatural thriller starring Terry O’Quinn and Vanessa Williams.

At some point, most of us are going to walk away from our computer while it’s turned on. Sometimes when that happens, family members, roommates, or even complete strangers will decide it’s OK to mess with your computer.

Keycard makes it easy to avoid that issue without having to put your machine to sleep and then wake it back up every time you walk away for a few minutes. By pairing it with your iPhone, iPod, or a host of other devices, your Mac can detect when you walk away and lock the screen, keeping others from being able to access your computer while you’re away.
