Unsealed Apple Pay ruling explains Fintiv’s Texas retreat and weakens new Georgia case

Apple announces major expansion of Tap to Pay on iPhone | iPhone-to-iPhone payment shown

A newly unsealed opinion shows why Apple had little patience for Fintiv’s long-running claims in Texas. As it turns out, after seven years of litigation, Fintiv still could not point to any evidence that Apple Pay or Apple Wallet ever used the kind of “widget” described in its patent. That finding explains the company’s abrupt retreat in Texas and bodes poorly for its latest attempt to profit off Apple Pay in Georgia.

Apple likely won’t release an M5 MacBook Pro until next year, but should you wait for it?

M5 chip

Apple has typically updated the MacBook Pro on a nearly annual basis, generally around October. This year, though, rumors suggest that Apple will be deviating from that pattern – and it’s increasingly likely that the next MacBook Pro model will launch early next year. What iPad mini and iPadOS 26 can teach us about the future of iOS

The moment Apple announced iPadOS 26 at WWDC, I rushed to install the developer beta on my M4 iPad Pro. And for the first time in years, it felt like Apple was finally putting iPad users first. We got features we’ve been asking for since iPadOS split from iOS: a fresh new look, Mac-like windowing, a smarter Files app, and more.

But what surprised me wasn’t the iPad Pro experience. It was just how many iPads supported all of these features, including the iPad mini.
