Over the week, the Trump administration announced a set of exemptions for its tariffs imposed on products imported into the United States from China. The exemptions cover product categories like smartphones and laptops, giving Apple a huge reprieve for the iPhone, Mac, and more. In comments earlier this week, Trump bragged about how he “helped” Apple with these exemptions.

A new report from The Washington Post dives into the inner workings of the Trump administration, particularly as they relate to Apple CEO Tim Cook.

iOS 18.5 has been in beta testing for the last couple weeks, but so far it’s pretty light on changes. However, this week’s new iOS 18.5 betas introduced an update to Apple Mail that exposes a key hidden feature.

Federal funding has been restored for a crucial cybersecurity program used by Apple and other tech giants, in a last-minute U-turn. Security experts had described the original decision to remove funding as stupid, dangerous, and chaotic.

Lawyers representing Apple said the company may not be able to trust Meta, after the social network company leaked internal data shared with the company in confidence.

Amusingly, Meta didn’t share the data deliberately, but instead used a method of redacting a PDF which is well-known for being trivial to undo …

Apple Intelligence was announced with iOS 18 and has been available since last October, when Apple released iOS 18.1 to the public. Although most apps provide support for Apple Intelligence features by default, developers can choose not to have them in their apps – and it seems that Meta has decided to do so.
