Tim Cook meets with Bill Gates, other tech execs at Sun Valley media conference (Gallery)

New photos show Apple CEO Tim Cook appeared at the Sun Valley media conference this week, one of the few industry events the executive has been known to attend in recent years. We noted last month that Cook was once again on the guest list this year but photos published today show Cook was indeed in attendance and mingling with fellow tech executives.

The photos from The Daily Mail show Cook meeting with Microsoft’s Bill Gates, Pinterest’s Ben Silbermann, and IBM’s chief executive Ginni Rometty. Last year Apple announced a partnership with IBM that resulted in the companies collaborating on iPad, iPhone and now Apple Watch apps and services designed specifically for enterprise customers.

Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue was also spotted attending the event. More photos of Cook and Cue at Sun Valley are below.

Tim Cook at last year’s Sun Valley conference

Apple CEO Tim Cook has once again been invited to the high profile Sun Valley conference this year, Variety reports, where media moguls and tech industry leaders gather annually to meet and attend panels covering the business. Cook’s attendance this year will mark his fourth consecutive year on the private invitation roster since he was spotted with Twitter/Square iCEO/CEO Jack Dorsey at the event in 2012.

Tim Cook says Apple will begin releasing diversity data, gives no timetable

Apple’s executive team

At this week’s Sun Valley conference in Idaho, Apple CEO Tim Cook told Bloomberg reporters that Apple will release diversity data on its workforce. Cook did not specify when this data release would come, but this is the first confirmation from Apple that the company is planning to release such data. A CNN report from March detailed Apple as one of the several technology giants that have objected to releasing the information.

“We’ll release the information at some point,” Cook said at the annual Allen & Co. media and technology conference in Sun Valley, Idaho, without giving a timetable for a disclosure. “We are more focused on actions.”

Diversity reports, such as the one that Facebook released on its workforce a couple of weeks ago, typically detail demographics in terms of ethnicity and gender. Apple has been criticized for having both a mostly male executive team and board of directors, but Cook has added Angela Ahrendts to the executive team and has been seeking new board members in recent months. Apple has also hired Lisa Jackson to run Environmental Initiatives and recently appointed Denise Young Smith as the new head of Human Resources.

Tim Cook and Eddy Cue once again appear at Sun Valley media conference (Photos)

As expected due to their appearances on the guest list, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Senior VP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue are in attendance at this week’s Sun Valley media conference in Idaho. The WSJ’s Doug MacMillan shared the above photo of Cook walking around the Sun Valley resort. The Information’s Jessica Lessin spotted Cue, and the executive provided a witty response to Lessin’s question about TV deals:

Cue and Cook both attended the conference last year, and Cook attended as the sole Apple representative the previous year. Several Apple partners, including board member and Disney CEO Bob Iger, are also attending the event. Cook and Cue’s attendance comes in the months following the Cupertino-company’s blockbuster deal to acquire Beats, and perhaps the duo have plans to create new deals at this conference.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue was spotted alongside Tim Cook at the annual Sun Valley conference for technology and media executives. According to a tweet from Bloomberg‘s Jon Erlichman, Cue and Cook arrived today at the conference, as pictured above.

In response to a question about the event being a “big week,” Cook reportedly said, “we’ll see.”

The week long conference held in Idaho, which Tim Cook attended last year, is a media-and-content-heavy conference focused on making deals, partnerships, and acquisitions. While an earlier report confirmed  Cook’s attendance at the conference earlier, Eddy Cue’s appearance is unexpected…

Once again, Tim Cook to attend Sun Valley conference for tech/media execs

Apple CEO Tim Cook will attend this year’s Sun Valley conference at the Sun Valley Resort in Idaho, according to a report from Reuters. This is not unprecedented as Cook made a surprise appearance at the conference last year.

Other notable executive attendees include Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, Google’s Sergey Bring and Larry Page, Disney CEO and Apple Directory Bob Iger, and News Corp’s Rupert Murdoch.

The conference is well-known as being a place where major deals, acquisitions, and partnerships will be formed. Time will tell if Cook plans to make any deals at this year’s event.
