Bradley has worked at K-12 independent schools for much of the last 20 years, serving as the head of the information technology department and leading classroom technology integration. He’s well-versed in enterprise Wi-Fi, macOS and iOS system management, school technology, and SaaS tools.
E-ink technology is typically found in devices like the Amazon Kindle, and it is also a critical feature of the Qingping thermometer. I originally reviewed the Bluetooth version of this device a few years ago, but Qingping has since updated it with Thread support for Apple Home. I have been retesting it to see if it still holds up in 2026.

There was a time when a stolen iPad or MacBook was a double nightmare for an IT department. You had to worry about the data, but you also knew the physical hardware was gone forever and would have to be replaced. A thief could wipe the device, reinstall the OS, and sell a perfectly good machine on Facebook Marketplace. However, with the maturity of the Apple Business platform and zero-touch enrollment, Apple has mostly destroyed the financial incentive for stealing corporate Macs and iPads.
Fans are one of those categories where true innovation is kind of hard to find. Ultimately, it’s just there to cool things and circulate air. SwitchBot recently launched its new SwitchBot Standing Circulator Fan, which caught my eye for its built-in battery and Matter (and therefore Apple Home) compatibility. Let’s take a closer look at what this portable fan actually offers and what you need to know before picking one up.

I have owned and used dozens of higher-capacity battery packs over the years, but sometimes you just need something small to get you through a single day of heavy use. Think of it like a “top off.” If you are heading out for an afternoon away from the office or jumping on a flight, you do not always want to carry a heavy brick. The PISEN 5000mAh wireless power bank is a super lightweight magnetic charger that fits into a minimal everyday carry setup.

Earlier this Spring, Apple unveiled Apple Business, combining Apple Business Essentials, Apple Business Manager, and Apple Business Connect (including Apple Maps Connect) into a single platform. While the free device management was the key aspect of the announcement, the integration of Apple Business Connect into an IT-managed portal solved a problem that I am not sure people were aware of.
I have long joked to my family that if I were super rich, I would love to hire someone whose only job would be to hand me a large cup of coffee as soon as I walked out of my bedroom. Apple Home has not let me do that, but it gets me close.
A few years ago, I wrote a guide on automating my morning coffee using a SwitchBot button pusher and HOOBS. It required pulling API keys and MAC addresses just to get it communicating with Apple Home. The new SwitchBot Bot Button Pusher completely streamlines this process with native Matter support and a built-in rechargeable battery.

Over the past few weeks, the Mac admins I talk with have been talking about a report from Netskope Threat Labs regarding a new macOS ClickFix campaign. The campaign is a brilliant (and scary) piece of social engineering, and it highlights exactly why the traditional 90-day software update deferral window needs to be retired, either by Apple or by IT.
The challenge with HomeKit Secure Video is that the manufacturer sees no option for recurring revenue, so I suspect that might be part of the holdup for many new cameras (on top of the lack of new features). When Aqara originally released the Aqara Camera Hub G5 Pro with HomeKit Secure Video support back in 2025, it ended a long drought. I have had one outside for over a year now, and if you have a porch area, this is a great outdoor camera.
Jamf has just announced the appointment of Beth Tschida as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Tschida is a familiar face at the company, having served as Chief Technology Officer since 2022. She succeeds John Strosahl, who guided the company through its transition from public to private ownership after Francisco Partners acquired it back in January 2026. With this announcement, Tschida becomes the first woman to lead Jamf in its 20+ year history.

The UGREEN Nexode Power Bank does something that no other power bank does. This power bank is MagSafe-compatible, supports Qi2, and can top off a MacBook Pro in less than an hour. If you are looking for a single device that can charge your entire Apple setup at once for your upcoming summer travel, this might be it. I use it almost daily.

For much of my IT career, cybersecurity training has looked exactly the same. Once a year, IT forces everyone to watch a few videos and take a multiple-choice quiz. This training does check a box, but it rarely changes actual user behavior or provides a ton of new insights. However, AI will begin to completely flip how training is done. A new integration announced recently by Dashlane and KnowBe4 gives us a clear view of how AI and real-time automation will change cybersecurity training for the good.
Today, SwitchBot has announced the new SwitchBot Lock Vision and Lock Vision Pro. For Apple Home users, these new locks support Matter over Wi-Fi out of the box, so you do not need to buy one of these SwitchBot hubs to connect them, but you only need an Apple TV or HomePod. Let’s take a closer look at what these new smart locks offer and don’t

If you have an iPhone, an Apple Watch, and AirPods, your nightstand and desk are probably a mess of tangled wires. That’s where a good MagSafe dock aims to help. NOCO is known for building rugged power gear, and it aims to bring that same focus to its new XGrid XDP3 3-in-1 MagSafe charging pad, bringing a premium feel right to your nightstand or desk.

Apple Business and Apple School Manager are foundational to modern Apple device deployments. If you are deploying Macs, iPads, or iPhones in the enterprise, you spend a lot of time in these portals. The problem is that the web interface can be incredibly tedious when you are dealing with thousands of devices. As we’ve mentioned a few times, Apple released an official API for these services last year, opening the door to automation and new tools. A new native macOS app called ASBMUtil is one such example.
Smart buttons have become incredibly common in the Apple Home ecosystem, but finding one that checks every single box is still surprisingly challenging at times. The new Airversa QliQ immediately caught my attention because it addresses two of my biggest complaints about most smart switches: it uses a Thread connection instead of Bluetooth, and it ditches disposable coin batteries for a rechargeable one. Let’s take a closer look at what it brings to the table and see if its premium hardware features justify the purchase.

When I first picked up the ESR Geo Wallet Boost last year, I had a thought: I was either living in the future or an absolute moron for plugging my wallet into a wall charger. Obviously, charging your wallet sounds like a massive hassle on paper, but after using it off and on, I can confidently say the functionality you get is completely worth the minor inconvenience of charging, as it feels more like charging a Kindle here and there vs something you really worry/think about.

If you spend enough time managing Apple devices in an enterprise environment, you start to spot patterns in how security incidents happen. It is rarely a cinematic Ocean’s 11-style hack. Instead, it is usually a user delaying an iOS update for three months or an employee connecting to an open Wi-Fi network at a hotel or coffee shop. Jamf recently released its Security 360: Annual Trends Report on Mobile Devices, and the data paints a very clear picture of the vulnerabilities that IT departments are currently facing. Even in the age of AI, what’s old is new again
When Aqara first announced the Camera Hub G350, the headline that caught my eye was the claim that it is the first Matter-certified camera on the market. Matter, while not perfect, is a huge part of what I want out of the smart home industry: freedom from vendor lock-in. Let’s take a look at the new Aqara Camera Hub G350 and see how it works with Matter and HomeKit.
