Apple SVP Jeff Williams to speak at the Code Conference later this month

Site default logo image

Re/code regularly gets Apple executives to appear at its annual conferences and this year is no exception. The site announced that Apple’s Senior Vice President of Operations Jeff Williams will speak at the Code Conference 2015, which runs May 26 to May 28th. Re/code’s speaker appearances typically take the form of an interview, so you can expect the executive to give some insight on Apple’s latest announcements (Apple Watch) although naturally major feature announcements will not be discussed. The WWDC keynote will serve as Apple’s platform to feature its newest advancements in iOS and OS X, which is held on June 8th.

Apple CEO Tim Cook to speak at WSJDLive conference in October

Site default logo image

Apple CEO Tim Cook is set to appear at a new technology conference hosted by The Wall Street Journal this October called WSJDLive.

Apple executives including Steve Jobs have appeared at past “D” conferences hosted by former WSJ employees Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher. WSJDLive appears to be a continuation of sorts of those conferences, although Mossberg and Swisher since left to form Recode.net and have also hosted Apple executives at the site’s new “Code Conference” in May.

Apple VP Greg Joswiak to attend Code/Mobile conference next month

Site default logo image

Re/code announced today that Apple VP Greg Joswiak will be attending its inaugural Code/Mobile conference next month to talk about Apple’s new products announced earlier this week including the new iPhone 6 models, the new iOS 8, and the company’s mobile payment system due out next month called Apple Pay.

“Joz,” as he is called, is a veteran of Apple who manages both product marketing and product management for both iPhone and iPod hardware, as well as iOS. He usually keeps himself quite busy behind the curtain, so we’re delighted to have Joz on stage in what’s a rare public interview for Apple (and even rarer for Joswiak).

Apple wearable reportedly only being previewed at iPhone event, shipping next year

via @EA_Roa

Following Re/code’s report earlier this week that Apple will announce its wearable product (iWatch, iBand) alongside new iPhones on September 9th, Re/code now adds that the device won’t actually be available this year.

Sources in position to know tell me it won’t arrive at market for a few months. “It’s not shipping any time soon,” said one. So when does Apple plan to ship its eagerly anticipated wearable? That’s not clear, but my understanding is that we’re unlikely to see it at retail until after the holiday season — think early 2015.

Eddy Cue: Apple passed 35 billions songs sold on iTunes last week, 40 million iTunes Radio listeners

Live from the Eddy Cue and Jimmy Iovine interview at the Code Conference, Cue is sharing some of the latest stats for iTunes and other services and noted that Apple just crossed 35 billion songs sold this past week. That’s up from the 25 billion songs purchased and downloaded that Apple announced in February of last year. Cue said sold, but we’re assuming that 35 billion number includes both purchases and downloads like Apple’s stat did in its press release last year.

Cue also noted that iTunes has around 800 million customers total and around 40 million iTunes Radio listeners in the U.S. and Australia with a lot of growth coming internationally. Iovine also shared some stats confirming previous reports that Beats Music is now at around 250,000 subscribers from a total of 5 million downloads. Iovine claimed conversions from downloads to paid customers would have been a lot higher if Beats Music was using Apple’s in-app purchase mechanism.

Tune into our live blog of the interview happening now for the latest.
