Spike adds collaborative notes and tasks to its conversational email app

I’ve been using Spike as my primary email client since early February, and while it takes a bit to unlearn some of your existing email habits, I find it to be the best email app for my use case. I find myself processing emails faster than I could ever do in a traditional email app. If you haven’t heard of Spike, I highly encourage you to read my review. Today, Spike released a new version of its app with two new additional components of the app: Spike tasks and notes. I’ve been testing these features for the past few weeks, and I am excited that it’s now out for general release.

Spike Email is a popular email app for iOS, macOS, and the web. Spike Email looks similar to an app like iMessage or Facebook Messenger. So many of my emails are short messages (almost like text messages), and Spike builds a design that helps make you more efficient. Spike Email app adds send later function as it continues efforts to reinvent email

I’ve been watching the Spike Email app for a few months now. Spike Email takes a cue from apps like iMessage and Facebook Messenger, and it brings that same look to email. So many of my emails are short messages (think Slack style), and Spike features a design that helps you be more efficient. It strips away things like headers, signatures, etc. and helps you focus on just the content. It also includes a priority inbox to help keep it filtered to what’s important, so you can get right to work. Another unique aspect is the Groups feature that Spike offers. You can create groups for work departments, sport teams, etc. There is no need to download another app for messaging. While a lot of the corporate world is looking for things like Microsoft Teams and Slack to reinvent messaging, Spike is building it on top of a platform we already use and now Spike Email has now added a Send Later function to its macOS app.

After I wrote my roundup of best email apps on iPhone, I received a number of emails and direct messages from apps I didn’t take a look at. One of them was Spike. I checked it out, and I was blown away by its unique take on email. In fact, it’s the first time an email app has felt fresh to me since I first used Gmail in 2004.
