Speck is known for its transparent cases which protect MacBook models against scrapes and scratches without hiding them from sight, but they’ve so far done nothing to guard against impact damage from knocks and falls. All this is set to change, says the company, with its new Presido Clear range of cases, which protect against falls of up to four feet.

Presidio Clear for MacBook is made with Impactium Clear, a dynamic transparent material that absorbs and disperses shock upon impact and protects MacBooks from drops up to 4 feet. Impactium Clear is co-molded into a raised edge around the perimeter of the case that also provides a secure, no-slip grip, so you’re less likely to drop your device. The case’s dual-layer, two-piece design easily clips onto the MacBook.

The first model available will be for the 13-inch MacBook Pro

Apple’s Q1 2016 earnings results were historic in more ways than one. While Apple’s revenue during the holiday quarter was an all-time record for the company, Apple did indicate that iPhone unit sales would drop year-over-year for the first time next quarter. “We do think that iPhone units will decline in the quarter,” Cook told investors on this week’s call, though observers are quick to point out that this may not be a negative outcome. This simply raises the question: why?

Perhaps users are holding out for the iPhone 7 after the comparatively minor iPhone 6s launch was Apple’s sole-iPhone debut in 2015. Another possibility, however, is that people are holding on to their older devices longer because protective case accessories allow iPhones to last longer.

Indeed, Cook did tell investors on the call that the existing iPhone 5s “continues to do quite well” and that 60% of active iPhone users are using models older than the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, which were launched in the fall of 2014. That means that only 40% of iPhone users are working with the latest form-factor found with the 6 and 6s lines.

With all that in mind, cases such as its the CandyShell Clear from Speck Products contribute to older models lasting longer, giving consumers a way to stretch their dollars until their next upgrade. Speck created a case packed with protective features and a slim design to help consumers get the most out of their iPhone. The following are the features of the CandyShell Clear that help it stand out from the competition:

With the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus debuting next week, it’s important to start thinking about how to make sure your new phone is protected as soon as you get it. At some point, you’ll probably want to resell your phone for top dollar to upgrade to the iPhone 7s, and getting the best price will require your device to be in like-new condition. The smartest way to protect your iPhone is with the updated Speck CandyShell series or new MightyShell line. “Designed for Impact” and available in all-new styles, Speck’s CandyShell cases have a perfect combination of great looks, protection, and accessory compatibility for your new iPhone.

We’ve checked out Speck’s all-new CandyShell series for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, and the cases are certainly impressive. Each one-piece case is made with two bonded layers — one soft, one hard — together creating a snug fit and incredibly easy installation. But unlike competitors, the CandyShell cases have almost no bulk, keeping your iPhone nearly as thin as they’d be without cases. And the latest clear CandyShell lets you see your iPhone 6s/6s Plus’s colors through an all-new design, available for the first time for both 4.7″ and 5.5″ iPhone sizes. Below, you’ll get a first look at some brand new CandyShell and MightyShell versions at great prices, available to order today…

While I wasn’t immediately convinced of the need to ever hide a beautiful Apple Watch under an arguably unattractive protective case, seeing my wife’s experience accidentally damaging the sapphire display solidified my spot in Apple Watch Case Camp in some contexts.

Because Apple Watch materials — aluminum, stainless steel, gold, Ion-X glass, and sapphire glass — are strong but not entirely resistant to scuffs, scratches, shatters, and all the same ailments that strike our iPhones in normal use, it makes sense that accessory makers want to apply the same formula used to produce iPhone cases when making protective solutions for Apple Watch.

But Apple Watch has to look good, so does porting that same formula actually work? That’s the question I’ll tackle with my hands-on experience with Speck’s $29 CandyShell Fit hard shell case for Apple Watch. expand full story

I prefer to start iPhone case reviews with a photo showing the iPhone within a case, so you can immediately see how your device would look inside. For Speck’s new iPhone 6 Plus versions of the super-popular CandyShell, I’m doing something different, because the magic here is hidden inside the case. CandyShell’s one-piece, co-molded design — textured rubber inside with hard plastic outside — has been copied (and admired within the accessory industry) more than almost any case feature in the past five years. With military-grade drop protection and the ability to absorb scratches, CandyShells are the cases I’ve historically used to keep all of my personal iPhones in perfect shape, and I’ve loved them.

That changed with the iPhone 6 Plus. Until now, Speck didn’t have a plain old version of CandyShell available, so I switched over to Incipio’s thicker, steel-pinned Trestle. But Speck has just released CandyShell Inked for iPhone 6 Plus ($45, available for $37 and up based on color), joining the earlier CandyShell Grip for iPhone 6 Plus ($33 to $40, also color-dependent). Unlike the standard CandyShell, which still hasn’t been released for the iPhone 6 Plus, both of these cases are visually intense: Inked is offered in a handful of multi-colored versions, while the two-toned Grip adds extra rubber ridges to the back. If you’re looking for a super-protective and distinctive-looking case, one of these CandyShells should be at the top of your list.

A few weeks back we reviewed Speck’s PixelSkin for the iPhone 4, and much of that review still stands strong for the PixelSkin HD. Right of the bat, the PixelSkin HD is my go-to case as it offers great protection, usability, portability and design. The PixelSkin HD is thinner then the standard PixelSkin yet the protection it offers is very similar. Your iPhone 4 is protected at all corners with this touch-silicon case.

The volume rocker is protected by the case, yet is still fully functional. The silent/ringer switch is accessible and won’t be affected by drops and knocks. The same goes for the top noise-suppressing microphone and the earphone jack. The sleep/wake button is fully protected like the volume rocker and the 30 pin dock connector is fully usable with any cable. The iPhone ear-piece and front facing camera are fully open so you won’t run into any communication issues.

The back camera and LED flash are also open and you should not experience any of those LED flash issues that some other cases create. In terms of camera/LED flash and screen protection, this case does a great job without covering those functions. The case extends higher than the screen, camera, and LED flash to when hit, dropped, or knocked into, it won’t be affected. This ensures that screen shattering and camera breakage are less likely to occur.

Speck’s PixelSkin HD is a fantastic case and is surely one of the best on the market. It has a great design and offers fantastic protection for your iPhone 4. It also does this at a great price and the lowest we found for you is just around $22 and you can get that here.

We would also like to thank Speck for sponsoring our iPad case of your choice giveaway on Twitter. The contest ends at 10 PM EST. tonight and all you need to do is follow @9to5mac and RT this tweet. We also would like to congratulate reader, Noah D. on winning yesterday and we can’t wait to find out who wins tonight and tomorrow night!
