macOS Catalina introduces a brand new app from Apple called Find My. The app is the Mac version of two apps that started on the iPhone and iPad: Find My iPhone and Find My Friends.
Starting with iOS 13 and macOS Catalina, Apple merged the two location sharing apps into Find My. The new Find My app works on macOS Catalina for location sharing and device tracking without iCloud.com.
iOS 13, iPadOS 13, and macOS all include the revamped Find My app that combines Apple’s previous Find My iPhone and Find My Friends apps. Here’s how to share your location with friends and family on iPhone, iPad, and Mac with the Find My app.
We exclusively revealed back in April that Apple was working on the Find My app, now released as part of iOS 13 – including the fact that it will later include the ability to locate Tile-like locator tags being commonly referred to as Apple Tags.
Since then, we’ve learned quite a bit more about it, including the fact that an Items tab will be added to the existing People, Devices and Me ones …
As 9to5Mac’s Gui Rambo first reported this spring, Apple is working on a Tile-like tracking device that will allow users to keep tabs on personal belongings with the help of the revamped ‘Find My’ app. Now, ahead of Apple’s iPhone event next week, Tile is sending out Bose headphones (with its embedded tech) to the media like Bloomberg with a little pitch about not forgetting the company.
As 9to5Mac first reported back in April, Apple is working on a Tag device – similar to the Tile tracker – that can be attached to any object such as keys or a backpack and tracked in the new Find My app. We now have more to share about both Apple’s item tracker as well as the company’s so-called Apple Glasses project.
As 9to5Mac’s Gui Rambo first discovered back in April, Apple is working on a Tile-like tracking device for personal items that could launch with the release of iOS 13 and the new revamped “Find My” app. Now new details have been uncovered about how the app could help users find belongings with AR, organize items in the app, and more.
As 9to5Mac has previously reported, Apple is developing a Tile-like device that can be used to track a user’s personal items using the new “Find My” app introduced at WWDC yesterday. The product is known only as “B389” by the people involved in its development.
Now, the first beta of iOS 13 includes an asset package for a device with the product type “Tag1,1”. This type of asset package is used for pairing devices by proximity, the same way as AirPods and HomePod can be paired to a user’s device. The reference was first spotted by Steve Moser and confirmed by 9to5Mac.
Apple is working on a new app that’s going to replace the Find My Friends and Find My iPhone apps. With codename “GreenTorch”, the app is currently being tested by engineers at the company.
People familiar with its development shared exclusive details about the project with 9to5Mac, but asked to remain anonymous discussing the company’s plans. The new app will have the same features of the two existing apps, but combined into a single app, which will be available on both iOS and on macOS, as a Marzipan app.
