Shooting video on iPhone? Here’s the best gear for making pro-level content

How to shoot cinematic iPhone 14 video

The iPhone is not only the most used camera in the world, it’s also a tremendous device for shooting video. You can use it to shoot a short film, music video, an Apple event—or, of course, YouTube videos.

While an iPhone on its own can be sufficient for YouTubers and filmmakers, the device is at its best when paired with key video gear and accessories built for making pro-level content.

Drone Diary: Shooting a dance video really demonstrated the value of a flying camera

Unusually for me, there aren’t many words in this drone diary – mostly I’m going to let the video do the talking!

The plan was to take a dancer there and shoot a dance routine from the air in a beautiful setting. This required the cooperation of the weather, but it all came together earlier this month. The stock Camera app found in iOS is decent enough. It’s great for the casual shooting of photos and videos, and more importantly, it’s easy to use and almost always works.

But just like there are dedicated photo apps for improving the quality of your photography, the same thing is true for videographers. If you’re looking to improve your iPhone or iPad videography skills, then look no further than FiLMiC Pro, a $9.99 universal app.
